This is a corollary of an earlier post, but I'm spending quite a bit of time on PureSim Baseball. I recently bought another company's game (Second and Ten Football, pro version), which is quite good, BUT, it doesn't have the all-important (to THIS sports fan) career mode.

At present, I'm out of the strictly wargame mode, but that may change during my Christmas vacation.

So, what are the hot-played games right now?

I try to avoid games at the moment but I do my Advanced Tactics turns and try out TOAW scenarios.
JM:s update to his mod just made want to replay alot of scenarios, made the game look raelly good. Hopefully someone he take on AT.s hexes too :).

Also going through the SSG Normandy tutorial, there is alot to learn.

I have been a big fan of PSBB for quit sometime, post Matrix. But as of late I have been spending most of my allotted game time on WITP .

PS: Is there a 08 edition on the drawing board PSBB ?

Lol RoadWar 2000 reminds you of how you were easily amused?? I always thought it was an excellent tactical game using buses, cars, 18 wheelers etc. in combat. I still play it also and think it is one of the best sci-fi tactical games out there. And what's this Empire Deluxe, Enhanced Edition? I never saw that, what's enhanced about it? The AI is already great in just the deluxe version with the right settings.

THis is what I'm playing when I'm playing a computer game:

Battles of Napoleon
War of the Lance
Master of Magic (impossible difficulty)
Civilization II & IV
Alpha Centauri
2nd Manassas (mad minute)
Bull Run (mad minute)
X-Com "Terror From the Deep (best one)
Empire Deluxe
Combat Mission (special settings AI defender only)
Medieval Total War origional
Kohan II
Spartan (v1.013)
The Seven Kingdoms (origional version)
Panzer General II
Galactic Civilization II
Sacrifice
Masters of Orion II
Dominions III
HOMM II

These are all the best games with the best AI's. ;) So, what's in your wallet? ;)

Funny how that Roadwar2000 sticks to you isn't it ? I was hooked on that one back inthe Apple II+ days, riding around with a bus load of armsmasters and a few sporty compacts, bashing, crashing and shooting your way through fights, the freaking mutants ! Ahhh ! Hahaha.......But you hold it up to the current light now, you have to admit it needs some polishing, you know, the interface and the graphics, could be so much better...

EDEH, goto KillerbeeSoftware dot com and check it out man, going strong as ever. Loads of new units and mods and just great fun overall. Enhanced edition adds so much more to the Deluxe.

My wife likes that one so we play it H2H quite a bit. A true classic.

Yeah Roadwar 2000 was one of those excellent games of the time. Auto Duel as well. I liked post holocaust games back then a lot and another was Wasteland. I would like to see some present day games patterned after some of these epic games. We just get reruns of 1998 stuff onward though it seems. Many games end up being like these rock or pop singers with their one hit wonders fame and then they are gone. You know like the guys that did that "I would walk 500 miles" song "and I would walk 500 more" "to be the guy who walked a 1000 miles or more to your front door" whatever the name of it was. That's just one of the ones I remember being on that one hit wonder program on tv. There were like a 100 of them.

Ahhh Killerbee online software yeah I got their online Perfect General game. I was a bit disappointed though because it didn't have the scenarios I had grown used to when QQP was doing them. I liked the buy point system version better than I do this online newer version. Plus the AI had 20 difficulty settings. I still have Conquered Kingdoms one of my first PC games, but, it doesn't work on XP or DOSBOX because of the graphics drivers. I might look into Empire Deluxe Enhanced version though and see what they've added.

The Amiga version. Roadwar2000(and Europe) on PC looked crap.

Who made that game? Any chance for a remake?

SSI published it, I'm not sure who actually programmed it I never paid much attention to developers names except like those that stood out in PC magazines like Sid Meier and Roberta Williams. ;)

Here it is:

   Game Design & Programming
                           Jeffrey A. Johnson
                            Game Development
                 Robert W. Calfee & Jeffrey A. Johnson

You can blame the following on the bad artwork (I liked it myself) :)

Art & Graphic Design
Louis Hsu Saekow, Kathryn Lee & Ben Willemsen

One thing I do remember most about the game is it was hard getting started and survive in the beginning. Especially when trying to get more crew you ended up in death trap encounters and usually died from them early on. So, if you play it save and save often in the beginning. :) Buses as I recall were my favorite vehicles as I loved to fill them up both inside and on top with those armsmasters as well. But, to really soak up the beauty and fun of RW2k you needed to have a spread of many types of vehicles and crews.

I dont blame the artists. The Amiga was simply miles ahead of PC at that time.
It was miles ahead in many departments but Bill Gates ways won ;).

Agreed! The motorola processor with the blitter chip was way ahead of everything else for a long time. I miss my beloved Amiga's. I had an A500, 600 and eventually 1200. The thing that made me go and buy one initially was when I saw that famous pic of King Tut on an A1000 my mate had bought. My jaw hit the floor when he showed it to me. My first pack of ten 3.5" floppy disks cost me £20!

I went from 1000 to 500 to 600 :). Before that (C64 and my trusty old Speccy).
ZX Spectrum and Amiga, best computers I have owned. The Speccy made me appreciate coding
and the Amiga made gaming so much more fun.
