Hello.

Download link: Indian Ocean Raid

Been working on this for a while and would now like to solicit some feedback if anybody is interested. Seems to be stable and working fine as far as I can tell. However, I would like to improve upon it so please post comments. Thanks.

In order to replicate the need to launch airstrikes on Colombo and Trincomalee I have added three items to the game: Colombo Facility, Trincomalee Facility, and Calcutta Facility. These facilities are abstractions meant to represent harbour facilities, dockyards, fuel storage, etc. The Colombo and Trincomalee facilities provide 250 victory points (each) if destroyed and the Calcutta facility provides 100. The facilities are represented in the game by stationary aircraft carriers in Colombo, Trincomalee and Calcutta harbours. They may be attacked - but make sure you attack the port! I encourage human players to attack these targets - they provide relatively easy victory points. An AI controlled Japanese player will attempt to destroy these targets.

There is one historical scenario plus two variants.

There is a Readme file included in the ZIP file with some general info about the scenario.

Installation:

OK...there are a bunch of files. Some of the files are the same ones I used in my Force Z scenario so if you downloaded and installed it, then it is likely some of these files are duplicates. I would suggest using the newest instance of the file and overwriting previous versions. The Zip file contains the full path information for the files. You will have to unzip the file and place the files into the proper folders. If you have CAW installed in the default c:\Matrix Games\Carriers at War folder then you may be able to unzip the files to the proper folders directly.

The ZIP file contains:

- 11 airplane .SRF files that need to be placed in the "c:\Matrix Games\Carriers at War\Resources\Planes" folder.

- 16 ship .SRF files that need to be placed in the "c:\Matrix Games\Carriers at War\Resources\Ships" folder.

- 1 scenario .SRF file (Indian Ocean.srf) that needs to be placed in the "c:\Matrix Games\Carriers at War\Resources\Scenario" folder. (This is the biggest file ~7.4 MB when unzipped.)

- 1 scenario .CAW file (Indian Ocean.caw) that needs to be placed in the "c:\Matrix Games\Carriers at War\Scenarios" directory. Please note! This is a different path than the other files listed above.

- 1 Readme file (a text file)

Hi Unhappy,
Once your happy with the state of the scenario, feel free to contact me if you'd like some help in creating an installer, and we can also arrange hosting the file on the SSG homepage.

Alex

.efw file? I don't know - is that in my .zip file? If so it is there unintentionally. I don't actually see it but I may have committed some grievous winzip packaging error.

Any chance you could try that again and see if you get an .efw file the second time? Don't really understand that...the link should point to a file named Indian_Ocean_Raid.zip

I can email it to you as an attachment if you want, just let me know where to send it.

Sorry for the trouble.

After I downloaded the files and saved them, they are ; Indian_Ocean_Raid.1.321c02.efw and LeyteScenario.1.3A1400.efw. I have no idea what or how????

When I go into file properties, they both say opens with HIPS email attatchments. I wonder if my ant-virus program has something to do with this? Even though I've never encountered this before....

Ok. I was just reading about it on the internet. Your virus scanning software is renaming the file. (I assume it is Computer Associates?) Anyway, all you have to do is rename the files to:

Indian Ocean Raid.zip
LeyteScenario.zip

After you rename them you should be able to open them like regular winzip archives. Hope that helps.

You are correct, it is CA. I'll try renaming them. Thanks

Well, I renamed them to a zip file, but the type still remains efw?? I'll have to play around with it some more, or download with my anti-virus program off...

Hmmmm,

Here is a link that might help, it explains how to disable the feature that renames .zip files.
