The South East part of the map is fragmented. No matter what I have tried it is still that way from Naples all the way to Persia on south. I am thus not able to do some things that I would like to do and its getting frustrating. I have tried to start new games, defrag the files with no success. In short I am at my witts end! Does anyone have any ideas?

Same thing happened to me, you have to totally uninstall and then reinstall the program, after that it was fine

just copy you saved games folder to another director, uninstall, reinstall, and put your saved games back into the game directory, and you should be fine

It would happen occasionally for me but a reboot solved it. I put it down to the low resources problem.

Redneb97:

Can you tell me what you mean by fragmented? Do you have a screen paint you could share?

Same thing is happening to me. Originally it was anywhere SE of Naples. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, now everything South of Portsmouth England is fragmented. I guess I can try un/reinstall again and see if I get lucky.

I don't have a screenshot to post, but what I see is a repeating horizontal pattern of the map, if I scroll down until the entire map is full of them there's around 20 segments all of the same section of the map. All segments are identical copies of where the problem begins.

UPDATE: A fresh reboot has now resolved the issue.

This is an interesting issue that I have never seen??? My map is split into 4 quadrants and this sounds like a possible memory issue when loading the 4th quadrant. Does the reboot fix and/or is the re-install fixing this???

In  my case the reboot solved the problem. I reinstalled twice without rebooting and continued to have the problem until I did a hard shutdown and restart.

Marshall, since a reboot fixed it, that implies a corruption, probably in either the video driver as it existed in memory, or in the constructions created between the game and the video memory locations. Only the latter is something you can solve. The former can POSSIBLY be solved by upgrading video drivers (Redneb97 -- do you have the latest drivers?)

In the case of the latter, it could be the drivers, or it could be the game. However, if the game, the problem would have to have been saved across iterations of the game. That would mean a memory leak of some kind, which you should be able to detect it (if it exists across all video platforms) on your testing systems. Theoretically, once the game exits, there should be absolutely no trace of the game left in live memory.

If there IS a memory leak, that might also explain some of the other issues people have reported (running out of memory, for instance).
