No aircraft on combat screen

I have a bit of strange problem, as the subject says my aircraft graphics and some animations have disappeared from the combat screen. It still shows the number of aircraft below where the graphic should be, but no planes. Ships still display fine. See attached picture for an example of what i'm talking about.

I seem to have "fixed" it, I had to make a shortcut in the main game folder and run the game from that shortcut instead of the one I've used for years on my desktop. It doesn't make any sense but what can you do.

Looks like you are running out of memory...

You can try different things... easiest is to reboot immediately before running a replay (which should always be done anyway for other reasons). Don't have other programs running at the same time.

You can also make sure you do not have a lot of TSR programs running in the background (ctrl-altl-del - bring up Task Manager and kill off some background programs).

You can also play around with the virtual memory settings, although i don't know if this will help.

Lastly (and most expensively) - get more physical memory for your machine...
