1 squadron had a partner, 610 squadron, while the Canes went after the bombers, the Spits got into the 109s

dove down on a 109 that wasn't looking, he learned the HARD way to watch his 6, start my climb and see another 109, only 100 yards away, start to pull my nose to get some lead, when another 109 pulls up right in front of me

Straight out of the game. The last but one has been cropped &  resized for composition. The rest are untouched.

The young RAF fighter pilot must have had an major pucker factor when he looked at enemy formation.
Significant fear and worry about his own life. They were outnumbered alot of the time.

Another plug for the new multiskins with 'quick fix' applied. No touch-ups. Straight out of the game. Cropped a few to remove peripheral markers or for 'widescreen' composition. Mostly from the 'Black thursday' afternoon mission.  The last three are from an instant action interception over Portland replay.
I can't praise this stuff highly enough. Well done to all concerned.

Wow! These are impressive. Do you need state of the art rigs for that level of detail?

I am impressed with the number of different skins for the 109s. I can see 2 in one shot (or 3 if you include with/wo yellow nose). If you are not changing skins between shots it is far higher than that!

One thing: I am not in to LW bomber formations in 1940 but did they actually fly huge vics like that? (Only footage I have seen was vics of 3-4 and more depth).

hi Guys,

You might want to read my comments on the BOBII performance. If you will give me you PC specs I will offer an opinion on how your PC will run BOBII:

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1724465

The screen shots were taken by LowFlyer one of our BOBII Beta Testers and a screen shot artist. I grabbed them at the Shockwave General Forum on our screen shot thread. The 109 skins are part of our Multi-Skin capability that we implemented for 2.06 and 2.07 which shows the accurate Squad markings and paint for both the RAF and LUF fighters. We have more work to do to complete the multi-skins for the LUF bombers, Ju87 and 110. LowFlyers setting were maxed out as he a good gamer PC (a guess as I do not know for sure).

Sarge, there is a BDG.txt parameter to get closer for taking screen shots.

The formations are accurate according to Rowan/our research but only for the BOB (may have changed them later in the war).

Here is link to page 77 of the screen shot thread if you are interested in seeing some more LowFlyer Pics:

This is a special Pic. One can not help but wonder about the young RAF pilot's heart rate as he climbed toward these very large LUF formations.
The RAF was many times outmunbered and pited against experienced LUF pilots. Most did not last long and they all knew that. Yet they went up and try to kill the enemy.

Man.  I just saw this.  It seems fortuitous that I have been playing Pacific Battles and come here.

What flight type PC instruments does Hard Sarge use?

Hi hgilmer,

Both Hard Sarge and I have late model core 2 Intel PC's wit 8800 type video cards. You might want to read the thread on BOBII performance. If you list your PC spec's, or do a DxDiag, I will offer an opinion on how your PC will do with BOBII. BOBII takes alittle more PC to run well than IL2.

I meant the flight stick/joystick, but thanks for the reply. I was assuming I had a good enough PC based on the specs, but I'll post the major points of the DXdiag.

Hi hgilmer,

Your PC will run BOBII well in most missions. Some of the Missions with 200-300 a/c in the air may bog it down some (but that happens with my PC also). You may need to cut setting a bit to keep you FPS in the higher range. Again see the performance thread for the key settings to keep your FPS higher.

http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10091

You also may want to come to the forum and read it some.

http://shockwaveproductions.com/forum/index.php

We are getting ready to deliver our 2.08 update for all the customers which will install over your purchase (if you decide to buy).

As a comparison here are my PC spec: Intel Core2 Extreme processor QX6700(2.66GHz,1066FSB) 8MB cache, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM @667MHz, 768MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX, Sound Blaster X-Fi PCI Sound Card, Direct X 9.0C, XP SP2 , CH Fighter Stick & Pedals ,TrackIR4 Pro thanks to BobII crew.

I use a Logitech extreme 3D Pro

decent stick (I like sticks with wide bases, I fly while sitting on the couch, with a clipboard as my table for the stick)

overall, anything that feels good to you should work, the more buttons you can control the better, the buttons can all be set with in the program, so nothing fancy is needed

Sounds good. I figured I could fly it.  Thanks for the info.  I did go over to the A2A website, but I have registered on so many forums lately, I was too lazy to do another.

I also went over to Aces High.  I've been wanting to find an online Air to Air place, but never could find one.  I couldn't find a WW1 one, either, but WW2 will be good as well.  I know I'll be atrocious at first.  A lot of times I play Pacific Fighters with nunlimited ammo becauuse I just want mindless fun and I spray bullets all over.  I have tried limited ammo and have made kills with unlimited ammo so I know I can do it. But, of course, as everyone says no AI can match a human.

I also checked out that TrackIR item - looks very good from what I can see.

try this one

Fighterace

https://fighterace.ketsujin.com/

I forget if they still got a free trail, or what the length is

got all kinds of different arenas and types of combat there (free for all, sides and TC, you can fly bombers and try to take land, or fighters and try to stop them)
