Hi Jason: One of my greatest complaints against the older versions of the game was the incomplete instruction manual. There is practically nothing on the use of engineers (bridges for example). You had mentioned that HQ units usually include these, which I have never understood how to apply (just not as good as you guys at the game). As I like the Campaign play, I don't remember needing one but I'd like to design some scenarios in the future. Engineers can clear mines-but I was never sure: can they lay a mine field? It would be handy. I think you described in detail how to load the bridge/pontoon units in one email-thank you. Could Engineers not expand communications and supply by being placed between the Command unit (forward with the combat units) and rear line of supply. Perhaps that was always there. I don't play Commmand Control, but in quick advances many units get cut off from supply easily in the campaign games. On minefields-if a unit discovers a minefield, would they not mark it for follow up units? Sometimes as the units move forward, the minefield is then hidden for reinforcement units following out of view. It should be a command with action costs, but makes sense tactically that a unit could be next to the hex and mark it as a minefield. Also-spotting with just empty horses, bicycles, etc. may make sense in that each would leave holders, guard detachment, etc. Where it does not make sense is those countries with poorer radio equipment like the Soviets, though this is improved later in the war.
