ORIGINAL: Peeking Duck? Hi, sorry in advance as I didn't search through every message in this forum but... I was a big fan of Flat Top from AH, will this game closely resemble that, or should I steer clear? In fact, I guess I should just go ahead and just say I'm looking for Flat Top and wondering if this game will satiate that urge? thoughts on a postcard... cheers, Peek I haven't actually played Flat Top, but I know Ian Trout, who designed Carriers at War, most certainly has. I would say that you are very unlikely to find an exact replica of a board game in a computer game, even if it bears the same name. The emphasis in Carriers at War is on decision making and its consequences, rather than looking over the shoulder of each pilot on each search leg. The result is fast paced game that's easy to play but that's always exciting. It's true that the best opponents are human, and you can easily player a nerve wracking multiplayer game in under an hour, but the AI is very good, and often surprises quite competent players. So yes, it's certainly not as complex as War in the Pacific, but then it never tried to be. Carriers at War deals with the core of carrier combat, and lots of people have found it a very satisfying game for just that reason. Gregor
