Mine is pretty straightforward. KG Erwin = Kampfgruppe Erwin, with Erwin being my middle name (and, of course, Rommel's first name). On music boards I'm bassplayer617. 617 is my birthday (June 17).

My name is Martin. I use Mart because when I sign up for a board, Martin is usually already taken. For some odd reason, I use mart on some boards, maybe as Mart was taken. When I first started going on forums, and got panicked by not being able to use my real name during the process of signing up, I used the name of my favourite pet, "Bassett", but I hated using a pseudonym so much that I soon managed to persuade most administrators to just let me revert to Mart or mart.

At the risk of being controversial, I have just never seen the point of using pseudonyms. They can often give you the wrong impression of someone, before you even have a chance to get to know their views. On the other hand, the combination of someone's username, their avatar, and their signature can often warn you that you are about to have an exchange with a psychopath.

Martin is the name my parents gave me. I haven't always liked my name, but it's the only one I've got. I did have nicknames at school. Although they were always fond, they were often also racist, and I never "took them with me" when I left anywhere.

Gem is a nickname for my days of playing Everquest, my beloved Wizard who I played for many years and many many raids.
35 was my age at the time I created this account.
Suffice to say Gem will always be a very sentimental nickname for me.

my username is from a college class. My foreign language was Russian. Parusski in Russian means Russian I thought that was unique I have been able to use parusski on every email account and user name for other boards so I have been lucky.

I really don't know. I mean, the Arctic part comes from those delightful Central Alberta winters...aside from that, it just sort of sounded good, I guess.

Everquest, My Half Elf Ranger. Half Human, Half Elf, can you guess why the name? I do not use it on other boards anymore though because of several stalkers from another board.

Maker's Mark, a fine Kentucky Bourbon is my favorite raw material when trying to relax. If not just over some ice, I will sometimes mix in some seven-up. Hence a Mark 7. Mark VII looks more official like a recent model of a naval weapons system. My name is Terry.

Not much to mine either - I wanted something from the Pacific War but a Carrier or Battleship name just seemed to obvious.  So I loaded up Witp, looked over the subs based initially in Manila, and picked the one that sounded the best to me.

My username is the same in every board (in the version of first name or "surname").

So... let's explain a bit, the surname is simple... for love of strategy i take Montecuccoli for he was an important general in XVII century and he was of italian origin...and in addition he wrote some "instructions" that are really important for the era he lived and the next ages.

The first name (created by me, and i found that in a RpG board someother uses it)... comes from my Long Rpg Campaign when i used to be a DungeonMaster pencil and paper (D&D, Rolemaster, Gurps... and so on...).... the Adraeth comes from an Avatar (like the Ultima one) that had to be summoned by the players..... so the name...

Adra (is Arda / Earth... for the Avatar was the Sum of all virtues and all elements... a sort of Ubermensch) and -eth is a classical early english and icelandic langauge.

OH now you've piqued my curiosity..Who is it? Just give us your surname Junk.

As for my username, that's simply my specialized field of service. ( same caliber, too)

See my thread on 10 years on the www.

For years I had company provided autos. That went away in the late 80s. We had at least one decent car/truck in the household but I managed to collect a few tired, old, cheap, rides for myself. Around the time that I had to setup my AOL account, my Dutch neighbors were always poking fun at me for driving junk cars. Their son would play Adam Sandler's Piece of S*** Car out the house window when I was outside working.

I tried junk2drive at AOL and surprise, no one else was using it. I could use my real name but there is a Canadian politician that could be confused with me.

Mine was given me many years ago when I was a active pilot in the 87th virtual F16 squadron, since I was heavily involved translating the manual for Thrustmasters HOTAS Cougar and had direct contact with the firmware developers. I was DarkAngel before that.... And the _DK is because Cougar is normally taken and I'm from Denmark.

I started using this nick about 10 years ago. It derives from the U.S. Army admin RTO call sign for company CO (which I was for a few years-armor) and a nick given to me by some fellow carpenters many years ago (high rise construction). I gratiously accepted "Maestro" to be placed on my hard hat, earned because of my....loud voice, and ability to get the crews attention. I could have done worse as some of my fellow carps had nicks such as; Dog Wash, Koma, Kamakazi, Big Dick, Mr. Peabudy, and Scummy.

I've noticed all the inventive usernames. But, I understand, many who are here on these boards have other usernames on other boards. Any particular reason for that?

2nd question: Why did you choose your particular name? Might be interesting to find out why.

Go ahead and reveal the real reason behind the name but just don't tell us your really Elvis!

I've been using Veldor for 20 years I'd say. Back to before the internet when I actually ran a very large bulletin board system (BBS). I got it from a relatively rare Avalon Hill Game called Wizards which honestly I think I just picked up mostly at random while trying to come up with a "handle" which is what they were called back then. I'm fairly certain it was pretty much originally unique, but over the years I've sold MMO accounts and done a variety of other things that haven't helped it stay that way. Nowadays there are Veldor's all over the net that aren't me and I generally hate the name and don't use it anywhere but here. I use to think/hope that maybe by sticking with one name people from one venue might recognize me in another but honestly I don't know that thats ever really happened as the net is just too big a place, and no name is really all that unique and cool for long (Because if it is someone else will just steal it and use it elsewhere).

The only reason I still use Veldor here is because I'm not aware of any real way to change it and I suppose, even if I could, then having been here awhile no one would know who I was. And people might actually like me again

In the BBS days most everyone used the same handle everywhere, and your reputation followed you, for good or bad.

Interesting. So, on another board, I could be talking to one of you but wound,nt know it. I don't know if I would like that. I suppose I might recognize your writing style or something. But for me I would like to know if it was someone I had met on this board.

Its pretty interesting reading about everyones reasons for" usernames " keep them coming.
