I was wandering how accuracy for direct fire weapons(infantry mostly like rifles smg etc)play in the game?Anyone knows something more about it?
For example some rifles(primary not secondary)have 16 accuracy. What this 16 means, maybe that up to 4 hexes the fire is straight and after 4 it beguns to lose trajectory-less hits(if any) or else?
I am not asking something general like the more the better which is obvious but whether any of you has deeper knowledge.

1 more question:i have seen the editor(5.0)and i have been trying to make new weapon systems for a country but i dont seem to get how to add it since there is no button to allow me 1 more slot(Germany for example)in order to place it.Any ideas?

The Accuracy stat is how many hexes the weapon has an inherent Base Chance To Hit of 50%. This is before any modifiers are applied. The value in the OOB field is calculated as # of hexes x 4; for example, the "16" you have indicated is 4 hexes (16 divided by 4).

As for adding new weapons 9or units, for that matter), there is no provision for increasing the number of slots in the OOB; all you can do is delete an unused weapon or unit and replace it with your own creation. If you are usng the "vanilla" game OOBs, they all have weapons that are not used by any unit in that OOB. In the Enhanced Mod, we removed all the "orphan" weapons, freeing up a fair number of slots.

You have saved me.

1 more thing, lets say that if i check the german weapons file i will see weapons not used by german units so its save to change them in items i want to create, right?

Also how the game simulates the difference between assault rifles and the older models in terms of fire volume?I mean that STG 44 could fire more bullets than kar98k at the same time. However there is no rate of fire in the weapons, its only for units(and the ROF for an STG armed squad is the same with kar98 units).I did notice that there is a difference in the HE value for them that makes no sense. Is it possible that this number simulates the difference i am asking for?

Thanks.

He kill value should be higher for semi auto type rifles, like M1 STG 44 etc etc...however, some may be off kilter here and there.

yes safe to change an unused weapon, like the M1 garand for instance in the German weapons list.

As you have noted, there is no ROF for the weapons, only the unit; therefore, the HE Kill number has always been "adjusted" to compensate. Higher HE Kill numbers = more likelihood of a casualty resulting from the weapon fire. So while technically the bullets may be the same, the assault rifle will put more "lead" downrange, increasing the possiblity of a hit. It is also why SMGs and MGs have rather high HE Kills for their caliber.

As for the higher HE rating of auto weapons..Imagine firing at a farmhouse. A bolt action rifle might penetrate, with a small hole, but an auto weapon of any calibre is gonna punch more holes in the same general area,(depending on recoil), and holes get bigger, depending on calibre.
The .50 is a handy monster for the grunts to have in an urban environment.

Hey man, it rules on deserts too: MMG unit suppresses my 75 mil AT cannon, then comes M3 with TWO .50 and kills the crew to last man.
