BTW Scolari announced as new Chelski manager.

They can bring in any manager they like, they'll still bore me to tears.

Cantona, I take it that you a Manchester UTD supporter, right? "1966 was a great year for English Football...Eric was born". Anyway, if I well understood this means your club is above or much more important than the English national team... since England was World Champion on 1966

Will we see a wild and crazy mud fight between Calderon & Ferguson? I would pay for such a fight...

Yes Tulius. England is not my national team as Gibraltar is not allowed to participate in FIFA and UEFA competitons for political reasons, which im not going to get into as this is a footie thread. Many United supporters (English ones!) put united above England as a rule of thumb. My only concern is that united players all come back fit from international games.

As a distant relative of Pocahontas, I'd happily welcome that young lady into the fold.

Wait a minute - maybe I'm better off not being related to her!

Awww... forget it...  a geezer like me doesn't stand a chance with a young cutie like her...

No way m8

I know that the chances are something like 70-30 for Germany but you know .. the usual cliche ... the ball is round, everyone plays football and so on

Hey Zond, are you going to park the bus and the players' cars in front of your goalkeeper or fight toe-to-toe with the Germans? Good luck, you will need it

EDITED: and maybe you should "park" the Croatian girlies of your pic behind the German goalkeeper

Nah, we'll just mop the floor with them, like the 3-0 win back at the 1998 WC quarterfinals

Now seriously, due to our f***ed up mentality we usually play better against top class opponents.

I predict or would like a draw very much.

Dixxie is right.
We will beat you today, but you'll win your second game so that we can meet again in the finale :)

The best you can hope for is to meet in the semi-final I'd like to say that Croatia have a chance, but they looked short of ideas against the Austrians and ze Germans are another class altogether IMO, bothe in defence and in attacking options...

But I assure you, Croatia will play a lot better today against the Jerries (I hope so! )

Less than 2 hours before the kick off.

I'm getting excited, too. We will watch the game in an old postal hall with 8.000 people in it - and two croatian friends of mine

@dixxie
really? I haven't looked into the plan, but every tournement I remember, the teams from one group were not to meet each other before the finale again...

Yep. The teams from the Group A+B side and those from C+D side of the tournament play each other in the next round.

Winner A v Runner up B
Winner B v Runner up A

Winner C v Runner up D
Winner D v Runner up C

Then the winners of each pair will play each other in the semi final. I was surprised as well...

And here are the possible lineups:

http://en.euro2008.uefa.com/tournament/matches/match=300693/index.html

Bilic decided to put Rakitic into starting 11 (Petric is out). A fairly offensive lineup. Just hope that Pranjic and Rakitic will manage to hold their bank, not the best choice for defensive.

So, it's all out attack

Less than an hour.

Warriooooors, come out to plaaaaaaay-i-ay.

That could well misfire on you I'm not sure that going all out attack against a well organised team like Ze Germans is a good idea. I admit I only have a sketchy knowledge of Croatian football, mostly from football manager...

We shall see though, everyone knows better than the managers don't they

I'll have a proper look later. The only player I'm really aware of is Ivica Olic of Hamburg.

It's interesting how everyone feels Croatia will do well because they beat England in qualifying. I can't help thinking that this particular fact is (IMO) worthless as we aren't in the tournament, let alone one of the favourites Beating England would have maybe meant something if we were there....

"It's interesting how everyone feels Croatia will do well because they beat England in qualifying"

Not only because of that. Croatians have had excellent, talented football players (Prosinecki, Boban, Suker, etc). But unlike the Ukrainians (Shevchenko) or Nigerians on the 90s (Weah), they have in general balanced teams. Shevchenko & Weah could not fight alone against the other team. They were doomed. In other words, Croatia is more competitive.
