I don't think it matters at this point, when it is released...........

I do think its important, at this point, that when you say it will, then it is!

I appreciate everyone's efforts..........

Thank all of those involved for their efforts

Just my opinion............

I do agree with this post dgk196..... I have never seen a situation where so many release dates have come and gone, and where so much work has obviously been done, to still come up blank. I am enjoying my 1.02 1/2... aka 1.03 pre-release , however, the continual delays here, months going by with various release dates mentioned and then scrapped, has me curious about the future of the game here. Here, if I understood correctly ,and I may be wrong, but I believe Jason said the manual updates did not get done, while for several weeks, these being completed was the reason for delays... I very much hate sounding like one of the people I normally poke fun at, but this is bordering on the ridiculous...if there is to be no update, just say so, and I will be perfectly happy with what I have, stop teasing

I was referencing the post 1.03 UPDATE manual edit suggestions that were found; three I believe. They were not revised.

1.04 UPDATE will have a tentative release date of 2011. If it happens earlier, a bonus for everyone.

Nope...1.04 is coming out first...then 1.03. You see, we are regressing...it happens when you get older.

I would expect difficulties.  What I look for is whether the group will stick with it, and I'm persuaded this group will stick with it.

Thank you Jason. And I still must stress, I understand the hard work you and your people have done. I suppose my main worry is that, in many areas, these "less graphic"games have lost much steam over time, and I worry some whether Matrix is committed to keep it going, but I expect they will say they are.
Also, scheduling the next update for 2011, is actually a good idea, then if it is out in,say 2010, everyone will be buying you drinks, instead of writing posts on here asking you what is going on.
I do hate to sound complaining, I actually do understand that there is a lot of work that goes into this, and not very much monetary reward. So, keep up the good work, and just bear with our questions guys.

To Dr. Jason...and I call you that because of all the "patience" you have, I know I could never do what you do...if I were Buddahist...I'd be sitting in Saigon right now setting myself on fire...or if I lived in Texas...I would be looking for the nearest university clock tower to climb...But I live in Montana...where the cowboys are happy....and the cattle are really....REALLY scared!

I am perfectly happy with what we have....and when the update comes out, I will be even happier.

*SALUTE* For all the work you have done!

So, is there an ETA on when the servers will be fixed and 1.03 available?

I hate checking back every day and being disappointed over and over again. :(

No idea.

In the meantime, I am updating the 3D graphics for the East Front Germans based on the submissions from Ladmo. Most impressive these are and should be appreciated for those who play in the 3D modes; myself included.

That's the essence of being a Campaign Series devotee. But it's always worth the wait.

Meanwhile, if you haven't already, you can assuage your frustrations with one of Andym's threads. You might even find yourself (or one of your posts) in one of the videos.

I noticed that the ftp server is up now, such that you can download the earlier patches (1.02).

Yes, I just noticed an email from Erik stating that the FTP was up.

That being the case, I will wrap up with the 3D graphics (saving the rest for 1.04 UPDATE) and send the file to Matrix in the morning.

HI Jason

How long would it take you to complete the graphics update? If its a day or two why not just get it done and release the patch next week...2 years is a long wait for a grahics update....or why not simply release a small graphics patch in the next few months..

Considering it is a holiday in the USA, I doubt any of the Matrix staff will be looking at it until Monday or Tuesday.

I've been wrong before though.

Of course, 2011 would reveal much more than just a "graphics" update.

I know how you must feel, but I'd rather you take your time and release it when it's good and ready.

As I said before......

At this point, I don't think it matters when it 'comes out'......

When you feel it's ready then that's it!

To keep the 'complaints' down, its not necessary to commit to a date.....

But, so they have nothing to complain about, don't give a date for release! 'Never look a gift horse in the mouth', is applicable!

I think its important that the release has in it what you feel needs to be in it.

I'm sure that everyone, like myself, appreciates everyone's efforts in making this available.

Thanks much

Dennis

HI

I think we have waited this long we can wait a few more days..Thank you for all the wonderful work thats been put in by you and your team! Its your call on this one..but heres a few things that could happen between now and 2011

Invasion of the Terminators
Another rocky movie
another rambo movie
An asteroid might hit the planet
Ice age
a new windows platform (this ones real!)
Indpendence Day Alien invasion
Earth gets sucked into a time warp caused by a black hole back to 1943 and we wont need to play EF on a computer..we can just go for the real thing

I personally think finishing the graphics update would be a wonderful touch and surprise!

Osiris

Personally I don't mind waiting a few days for the graphics update, especially if the next patch isn't scheduled for another couple of years.

With all the delays, I can see where Jason may simply want to issue it and be done with it.

I don't mind the wait either. Jason, for every complaint posted, there are five people who are content to see it come out when its ready, but who don't say anything. Stick with your schedule, release it when YOU are ready.

Many PBEM games are currently "on hold" because of the low supply bug. It's best to release asap. One can always release small updates between 1.03 and 1.04 for graphics etc.

Keep in mind he\it was ready last Monday but the server issues prevented him from doing so.
As has been stated graphics are a simple fix and could certainly be done in minor patches with no real effect to game play.

I played this game for a few years and was thrilled to see it being updated here at Matrix. I am patiently awaiting the 1.03 to get back into some pbem gaming but we are now 2 weeks past the announced release date. One week due to wanting to take feedback and get it right, perfectly understandable and appreciated. Second week due to server being moved not because of wanting more time to complete the update. To Jason's credit he is using the time to make a few more minor improvements.

If it was ready, almost now, a week ago it's ready now. Time to get it out and get people playing some serious games.

The 1.03 UPDATE has been sent to Matrix.

I would imagine it will be ready for downloading in a few days.
