I really doubt whether the delay in a patch impacts sales after all this time. The significance of the patch, and what it rectifies or improves upon, will be lost on those who don't own the game. I stand to be corrected, but I would imagine the vast majority of people who have expressed any interest in version 1.03 are those who already own and know the game's shortcomings.

For what it's worth, as one who has posted a couple that could be considered complaints, mine were not complaints per se, really...I enjoy my game already, even if there was never a 1.03...my only, partial complaint, really is worrying that the basic support from matrix, will fade out for this game, as it seems this game gets shoved to the back for everything else. I have no complaints with Jason, or anyone, they have done an incredible job. Take as long as you need to finish.

Wrong. It's negatively impacted my purchse, for one, and I doubt if I'm alone.

Steely Glint, the 1.00 version works right out of the box. Not so with the Talonsoft version for Vista and some XP users.
101, 102 and 102b fixed some things and most people were happy with that.

1.03 is more of an upgrade/expansion that we are thankful to get for free, whenever that happens to be.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to chime in here. Our entire team was away at Origins until July 1st. We then started a server move and upgrade that should have ideally taken 24-36 hours. Instead it took us until July 5th to get everything straightened out again (and a few things are still being worked on). This delayed at least three updates, including this one. When we are back to full production tomorrow, we will try to get all pending updates out during the coming week.

Regards,

- Erik

What do you mean it 'negatively impacted' your purchase ? Have you bought the thing or not ? If you have bought it, its not 'negatively impacted' the sale at all...you've made the purchase, and prior to 1.03 being released too.

If you haven't bought it, then how do you know anything about the game and the need for a version 1.03 ?

I'm not speaking about this particular situation (obviously), but I for one very often buy games 1-2 years after their release, and in the mean time I do visit a forum of a game I'm interested in and do pay attention to the manner of releasing patches, although I'm rather interested in how long it takes to put them out, how many a company makes and how many of reported bugs get solved, not whether or not ETA are met... In this day and age when on one hand almost no game is issue free out of the box, and many developers add interesting features in patches I find it a sensible approach. Not to mention that experience with one game influences the chance of buying another one by the same team.

Just an aside comment.

I am waiting until 1.03 is out before buying. I've been using the old Talonsoft versions. I am going to see how the new 1.03 update works before buying.

Oh and I like the video's.

It has never been a question of the game not working..I purchased with no updates, and it worked fine, I updated to 1.02,and then to 1.03 pre-release a few weeks ago, in every case the game worked fine, it is just more things added, in my case, mostly I was anxious to add in engineer units.
This is NOT a patch to a game to make it work, it is close to a "module"idea you see in some games, with additions. Anyone waiting to see "if the game works with the patch" is missing out on a pretty good game already.

Because I own the Talonsoft versions and I can read.
