Once that is done my troops will load up and move to Koumac, reinforcing the troops there. I think significant Allied forces are on Caledonia BUT La Foa isn't held by the Allies and so I think I might land there, behind the Allies, cutting them off from Noumea, preserving them as a training asset and, most importantly, allowing me to take Noumea cheaply. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at 53,33 Japanese Shock attack Attacking force 4614 troops, 68 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 138 Defending force 1063 troops, 14 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 61 Japanese max assault: 244 - adjusted assault: 412 Allied max defense: 58 - adjusted defense: 9 Japanese assault odds: 45 to 1 Japanese ground losses: 67 casualties reported Guns lost 1 Allied ground losses: 597 casualties reported Guns lost 11 Clearing up more guerillas. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Vladivostok [AMUR] Japanese Shock attack Attacking force 30046 troops, 191 guns, 197 vehicles, Assault Value = 593 Defending force 8798 troops, 157 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 321 Japanese max assault: 1162 - adjusted assault: 336 Allied max defense: 315 - adjusted defense: 475 Japanese assault odds: 0 to 1 Japanese ground losses: 1491 casualties reported Guns lost 14 Vehicles lost 12 Allied ground losses: 205 casualties reported Guns lost 6 A Soviet division has snuck in from the border. This is just to mess with his mind a little. One other thing.... I'd point to the effectiveness of my surface combat TFs. If you look at every battle they've fought - except the 7th December one in which the Boise ran into 4 old DDs and the Nemo-san's poor showing against the PTs - my SC TFs have absolutely slaughtered the opposition when they've met them. I really think that the 8 ship TF ( with a careful matching of gun ranges ) gives far and away the best results in naval combat.
