Great photos. Is that plane the B-17G Aluminum Overcast?

It's the Yankee Lady, of the Yankee Air museum. Not a known combat veteran B-17G, but just a representation of the Era. Markings for 8th AF, 381st Bomb squadron. Here is a nose picture.

Got a great shot from the business end of a B-17G. I flew on it at the Lost Nation Airshow in OH. That was a thrill!

Thanks for the image. What an amazing ride that would be...could you just "feel" the flak going off around you?

Ifelt like we might get "jumped" by ME and FW at any time. Luckily we had a "lil buddy" not to far away for escort.

Got our wireless connection working, and now we're heading to the beach.  Later, all.

Waist Gunner view.

The .50 cal belt is rather interesting. The .50 cal we use today isn't much different, but the belt is quite different.

the belt is specific for the aircraft i'm pretty sure the standard 50cal belt is the same today as the ww2 one. cause the gun we use today is only slightly modified from the ww2 one.

What I noticed initially was the metal covering over the front of the round.  The belt itself is the same as today.  It looks like that covering may be just be a guide for the belt.

Which is a pretty good idea, considering the mounting for the weapon.

The fizz seems to have gone out of things... It's always bad during the summer, but I suspect Robert's departure also has more than a little to do with it.

Evening Gem, how's the weather?

Well,

Mostly clear.
An isolated shower or thunderstorm possible early in the evening.
Lows in the mid 70s.
Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph.
Chance of rain less than 20 percent.

other than that.... IT'S HOT!

one thing I don't like about apartment living is the times where you can smell other folks' dinner cooking.
Especially if it smells unappetizing like it does tonite.

My place (I call it the penthouse ) is on the 3rd floor, so I get it bad and I can't even retaliate, except with very loud music and much stomping about!
