Hi all, quote:
ORIGINAL: Dixie Today is the first full day off I've had in the 13 days I've been here It's back to work again tomorrow as well I've already had heat exhaustion, I was suffering on the third day. I'm still fairly white though, I've managed to avoid sunburn with plenty of factor 50 sunblock Since then I've been OK. I'm looking forward to getting home where 2 litres of water is a daily intake, not just 30 minutes worth. I have never been anywhere this hot, 50C may only be halfway to boiling, but it's like that most of the day. It's usually above 30 by the time I'm up in the morning and it doesn't drop below that until after I'm back in bed, if at all. The jets don't like the heat either, the high temperatures cause the fuel to expand whilst it's in the tanks. This has the unfortunate effect of causing the jet to throw the 'excess' fuel onto the dispersal It also limits the amount of fuel we can put into the jets before they can't get off the deck. The engines hold their heat for a lot longer as well, with the result that I've burnt myself several times on hot pipes etx whilst refilling oils. I've not seen any scorpions or camel spiders yet, but I have seen a few gekkos. Maybe friends of Onime? Nice to hear from you Martin - take care! Leo "Apollo11"
