Parole - Tithe.

The world wonders, does it count as parole if I get out later than scheduled?

Both kinds. And both kinds of Jap 163's as well. And USN airships.

The USN used airships during WW2? Never knew that. What did they use them for?

So during my flight back last week, as I was sitting on my airplane that was 3 hours behind schedule I was thinking about high fuel prices.  Has anyone else contemplated if the high prices could be an opportunity for a new diridgible business plan?  I'm thinking with all the fuel spent creating lift for these heavier than air vehicles to fly, one could build small commuter airships that operate for a fraction of the cost.

Wow. Talk about learn something new everyday! I never heard that before. I thought the use of airships pretty much died after WW1.

You can actually take a sightseeing tour of London by airship - http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/gallery/2008/jul/15/london.travelnews?picture=335703197

I think the destruction of the Hindenburg and the R101 still sticks in popular memory and prevents people from considering dridgibles as a viable means of transport. Kinda ironic really, IIRC airships were a hell of a lot safer way to travel than airplanes.

I learned an interesting thing about the Hindenburg disaster. All the deaths were from jumping. None were from burning. Apparently hydrogen burns really fast, and being lighter than air, the heat rises extremely rapidly. Carbon fuels, OTOH, make soot which causes most of the burn damage as it sticks to you.

Airships could be used for transportation as well, at a lot lower cost in fuel.

Late evening - Tithe.

I'm contemplating staying up until 2am, EDT, when the moon will set, so I can watch some of the Perseid Meteor Shower.  Then again, I may hit the rack.

Hmmmm.....  or

I'm staying up for the meteor shower, plus Tuesday I'm going to see Jethro Tull at Red Rocks. Meteors and Ian Anderson, life is good.

Even you, with your limited wood-based intellect, have to agree that it's getting somewhat silly.
