I'm saving something for you, NG.

Look at it this way. We're increasing the chances that one of our Thread Brothers will win a free copy of AE.

Don't mess with Niceguy'sBadguys.

I wished I could use my old team's name "Don't F*** With Mr. Zero", in honor of a great line from a great movie, but thought I might catch some heat from the Matrix guys.

You're reading "Day of Battle", right?

I'm reading "An Army at Dawn" at right now - great book!

Every allied officer above the rank of colonel.

My poorly informed impression is that the Allied effort in Italy was mishandled by everyone involved from the Corps level up. It was never the main effort for the overall Allied strategy, so it ended up as a long string of stop-gap measures.

It does sound like I need to put these two books on my reading list.

OK, so maybe I'm not quite as poorly informed as I thought.

You really should!

Sometimes "Army at Dawn" is downright funny - for instance right now I'm reading about seasick donkeys vomiting all the way to a landing zone in Tunisia...

Army at Dawn cemented my opinion that Maj. Gen. Fredendall was the worst General of WWII. Or at the very least the worst American General. I know every country had its own idiots.

Yeah, it's hilarious as long as your not a donkey...or the poor PFC getting yacked on by a seasick donkey.

The donkeys make a return in "Day of Battle", where they have no problem making a sea voyage in bad weather on an LST (to Sicily), but then refuse to disembark. They end up being tossed overboard and having to swim ashore...
