She has not had any contractions. The hormone triggers are not present because it was not time for the waters to break. Now she will have to be induced tomorrow instead of next Tuesday as planned. The membrane sweep consists of the consultant (the equivalent of a US attending physician, I believe) sticking his finger through the cervix and forcing it around in a circle beyond the neck to seperate the membrane from it's surrounding flesh. It is "uncomfortable" according to text books (and bloody hurts according to my wife, especially as all he said he was doing was an internal!). All it has done is to increase the risk of infection and make Josie and Freddie more uncomfortable. We had a late night at the hospital while they checked everything out (an hour's work stretched to four hours as the duty consultant had an emergency c-section to do I think).

Life with the NHS. I'll bet she used a different phrase to bloody hurts... Hopefully everything will go well when the time comes, remember your most important role now is to be shouted at and told it's all your fault and that you're never going to be allowed anywhere near her ever again

That sounds normal...

The NHS have been great to her with her tumor. At Addenbrooke's all the Doctors are very open and tell you anything you want to know, even at Professor or Registrar level. At Ipswich General they tend to be more arrogant and keep you in the dark. The Nurses and support staff everywhere have been really good. I firmly believe in the system, but levels of care are not uniform. That's the Government's fault, as it was always meant to be a National Health Service and they just do not have anyone capable of running anything that big properly. All managers and no managing...

ps - may I have a turn to keep my mind off it, please? No worries if not Old Boy as I think you are away. You must have plenty of things to do. Is the new machine fully tuned up now?

My machine is fully tuned up and working, but it's at home right now. I'll try and see if I can redownload WPO again and reinstall it.

Hang in there, Carl! Once Freddie is about 18 months old, and running everywhere, and getting into everything, and putting everything into his mouth, you'll look back fondly on this time.

Don't put yourself out mate. You always come to the rescue and owe me nothing. Enjoy your family time. 5 BCs! That sounds like big fun AND big trouble.

I can't find my details to try again Sorry mate. If you have time at the weekend, and you can sneak away for a bit there will be a couple of turns on Saturday.

The Border Collie experience is interesting. One 7 year old (mine), two 5 year olds (my parents's, one was mine before I moved out), one 3 year old (also mine) and one 10 month old (my brother's). It's a bit crazy

Good evening chaps    I wish I'd remembered to install WPO before I went visiting people...

I'm playing Hearts of Iron at the moment, I'm in 1940 but WW2 hasn't kicked off.  Hitler was actually happy with 'just' Austria and Czechoslovakia and he's left Poland alone.   It looks like the remodelled Royal Navy is going to be heading East as the war in China heats up...  I've gone crazy and scrapped all of the battleships and the older cruisers and built a lot of CVs and CVLs.  I'm up to HMS Africa (CV) and HMS Mars was the CVL before last to be started   I've scrapped HMS Argus and HMS Hermes and Couragous and the other pre war CVs are next in line to be replaced...

Pardon the dumb question but I am doing a Psych paper and I am wondering if guys that post like you actually have a REAL life, you know eating, sleeping interaction with other humans and/or your SO?
Secondly while doing all the above you still find time to actually PLAY WitP? If the answer is yes I stand in awe of you and salute you for what you have been able to do...or will do :-)

I have a real life, I'm lucky that my work allows 4-5 days off at a time when my wife is usually at work. I have no kids to watch over, so my time is mostly my own

Home networking project - Tithe.

The family computer that I reloaded shares it's printer with our laptops.  My highest priority is getting it properly working from my wife's laptop.

Yes, they're pretty good pictures.  The second one is the one I was using for your pic.
