The more people complain about the Russians the more they are going to do things like this.  They don't care what the world thinks of them right now, and carrying out this type of excercise will prove that to the world.  Trying to prove you are a major player on the world stage means lots of excercises just like this one, operating far from home reminds everyone that you can...  Modern day gunboat diplomacy

To be fair, it's no different to the US Navy or the Royal Navy going off for an excercise in the Indian Ocean really.  We (as in NATO/the West) wouldn't back down or change our plans if the Russians didn't want us to carry out an excercise somewhere, and neither will they.

Maybe there should be some sort of Thread sweepstakes on how far Peter The Great gets before a breakdown

a)  Can't leave port
b)  Russian waters
c)  Breaks down on the way there
d)  Breaks down during the excercise
e)  Breaks down on the way home
f)  Doesn't break down at all

How about "none of the above" , and she heads for the Black sea.?

Post lunch tithe.

I must not have been awake when I made my lunch this morning. The roast beef sandwich tasted like I confused the horseradish for mayo . Well that and the garlic stuffed olives will keep people from bothering me till I saw through my chain and get out of here.

Do you think anyone would try to stop her? The Turks might wave a treaty at them , but if the Russians feel bloody minded enough they might go anyway. A good way to show their strenght.

Finally finished the war with Japan in Hearts of Iron It only took 8 years of fighting, damn USA wouldn't fight I had to take control of the French forces to make any headway, then I managed to gain enough territory to force Japan to the negotiating table only for the USA to declare war again the day after the cease fire ended I had to nuke Tokyo to cripple their building capacity and stop them building carriers to sink the Royal Navy. Now I control all of Japan's Pacific Islands, most of mainland China, Korea, The Philippines and the Home Islands The 1950s are going to be a very different place....

Now all I have to do is ship almost my entire army home to the UK to defend against any attacks by Ze Germans or The Soviets....

Nope, I'm not sure what happened. Must be one of those alternate history type events. Despite the lack of land battles the US did lose more ships than anyone else, including the IJN which was wiped out (by me ).

Now, should I 'liberate' Korea and Japan to provide a buffer zone of sorts to protect against the Russians... I don't think the Germans are going to try anything now, especially as I have the bomb I need to watch out for Uncle Joe though, he's already 'stolen' Chunking from me during my advance across China during the war
