Gas price gouged - Tithe.

I just had to gas up before this weekend's first youth hockey road trip.  All the gas stations in Raleigh are jacking up the prices.  I know costs are all relative, but the wholesale price of gasoline has jumped 20 cents/gallon because of refineries shutting down in the path of Ike.  20 cents seems reasonable to me, when I've been paying around $3.50 - $3.60/gallon.  Well, the panic has set in and the price gouging has started.  I paid $4.79/gallon!

I don't know, it might wash all the polluted coastal water back out into the ocean.

Kidding aside. I hope everyone stays safe.

Good news:  I don't have to drive 2.5 hours to shoot my rifle in a blinding rain storm tomorrow.

Bad news:  I'll be back to work tomorrow 1200-0100.

My sympathies. Although on morale issues you have to listen to your troopies. If they aren't complaining they aren't happy. Therefore I must assume your morale is in tip top shape

Thanks again for your service.

You must have gotten our rain. Seems the skies suddenly decided to clear here. Might be a great weekend! :)

Geez Mike, is this the way they reward staying on after you qualify for retirement?

Must be. Actually, it looks like I'll be moving to another position here at the end of the month. No more weekends or holidays........or hurricanes for that matter.

Certainly good news. I've been absent quite a bit from the Thread lately, seeing how work keeps me chained to my desk day and night these days; I just don't know what's going on with anyone these days.

Hi Chris! My name is Mike, and I'm a hockey dad.

My son's first games of the season are tomorrow and Sunday, up in the Norfolk area of Va. Road trip just in time to get burned by the Ike gas price spike.

Considering what the "Hockey Mom's" look like I may have to consider becoming a "hockey dad" myself.

It will be a nice change. Mob(ilization) readiness OIC. Dealing with all the stuff that goes with mobbing a soldier. Smaller section (about half a dozen vs. 15). Just steady work. I'll also move 1 room over. I'm excited to do something different. I like what I do here but sometimes things happen that are out of your control that cause you to want to move on.......if you know what I mean.

I just paid 3.62 a gallon. I don't think they had raised their prices yet. Tomorrow it will be a different story.

They have been reporting that about 25% of the gasoline refineries in the US are right there, and currently shut down. Hopefully only shut down for a couple of days.
