That was in my best American accent, btw...

We don't have accents, you guys do.

Actually, the Southern US and the East Coast have accents, but not us mid-westerners.

Thanks for all the best wishes. Laddie (the oldest and most special boy) jumped up off the sofa and came over to give Freddie a good excited sniff. I think he wants to come and say hello properly - maybe later...

I love the way animals respond to newborns.  When we brought our son home (18+ years ago ) we had a cat named Tut.  We plopped our son down on the floor still in the car seat.  Tut cautiously walked up to him and hesitantly took a sniff.  Then he proceeded to turn around and try to cover him up, just like he was something that belonged in the litter box.

I've seen dogs do something similar. They of course are compelled to sniff the child. The result is usually some expression of indignation and than a curious look at the master like "you've got to be kidding me."

Geez, it's quiet around here.  If I wasn't busy here at work, I might get funny ideas.

So I've been doing some reading of some early dynamics and aviation engineering texts.  I have to say, what the heck were these guys smoking when the came up with units.  Slug? Slinch?? Blob???

Well, clearly a Slinch is the inch version of a slug.

They're units of mass. A slug is about 32.1lbs mass.
