Onime is for the moment giving himself a break fro all things WITP (including our game). He has a lot on his mind , and everyone needs (and deserves a break) now and then. I wouldn't call him an apologist so much as a fanboy. We have had quite a few discussions , and despite being an avowed anti-communist , I do respect his postions. (Please note that I said respect, not necessarily agree with).

I sincerely hope that he comes back soon. I miss his "blasts".

In both cases ypu are "preaching to the choir", but let me say that he made very good, logically argued points. And don't forget , theory is very different than practice. What theoretically can be argued as a good system can be constured quite differently when you have been run over by that system.

As one of my hero's is alledhed to have said (no evidence except in the musical 1776), "I've never seen , heard or smelled an question that was so dangerous that it could'nt be talked about" (Attributed to Stephen Hopkins).

I feel the same about it's "kinder , gentler" cousin. But I don't have problems discussing it with people who live under such a system. Seriously T , I wasn't suggesting that you start singing the "International", or satrt waving a a little red book. But where is the harm in discussing with others their point of view?

As I said before, I like to debate, but not communism or fascism. Those two ideologies have so much blood on their hands that they are utterly irredeemable.

The "theory" vs "practice" debate is irrelevant. If I picked up a gun and shot you in the head, you might theoretically survive, but in practice, it's unlikely.

I would imagine with lots of federal disaster money coming in , that shouldn't be a issue. The last time she needed a major repairs , the Navy Reserve stepped in and used it as "training". I'm confident that Texas will be alright.

Post busy weekend tithe.....

I'm comforted to know that I beat USS America's gas bill by 60 cents a gallon throughout....but we still lost to Georgia.

Witp turns will begin again tomorrow night.

Ike appears to have been a devastating storm. Many prayers for those in the destruction.

Not that I know of, but I have a lot of friends and co-workers there. I have heard from a couple. They are fine (they evacuated). They are not sure about their homes.

USS Texas is moored to pilings that are supposed to handle these types of hurricanes.

houston should of been some wind damage. evidently the storm surge in galveston bay and the beaumont port arther areas was bad. houston should be without power for a week or 2 i am hearing estamates in the southern houston and beaumont port aurther area's of a month before power. uss texas is on pillings that allow it to raise and lower with the tides so it should of been ok.

my cousins chemical plant had 9 foot of water in it. exon mobiles plan which is the largest in the us is located next door it also had 9 feet of water. i am hearing estames of a month or more before the plants can be brought back online. at my cousins plant every pump and pump motor will have to be replaced.

* No power at battleground, power poles and lines down
* Park store near USS Texas flooded to the roof
* Fallen tree on headquarters building
* Monument entrance fee booth overturned
* Sewer lift station control panels underwater, could not get to wastewater system to assess its condition
* Reflecting pool flooded
* The road to the monument was underwater as of 3 p.m. Saturday
* Several large oak trees down
* Privacy fencing torn down
Shelton said the USS Texas -- a survivor of both World War I and World War II -- is in good shape.
No word yet on when the site will reopen, but recovery operations will begin Monday, he said.

she is supposed to be able to handle 3 foot swells. and no she is not stuck in the mud since the last major work in the mid 90s
