Oooh, them's fightin' words... American Football is a silly sport that doesn't involve feet or balls.

Somehow, I'm sure you have no intention of rephrasing that.

TO be fair, we're not trying to make new words. Just find ones that aren't in the forum software.

Minnesota Vikings?

PS:  That isn't football.  Regardless of how much you say it is.  If you silly colonials will insist on calling your American Football by the name Football we English will invient new games and call them baseball and basketball before insisting that the whole world calls our sports by these names and calls your versions nuggets (baseball) and sussudio (basketball)...

WTF we took rugby and made it a 100 times better and called it football. we took soccer had real men play it let them fight put it on ice and called it hockey. we created baseball and basketball from nothing(the greatest games in the world). and don't even get me started on cricket. the only game you euroes got right was golf and thats just because you like drinking all day as much as wee do.

So, what are my American brethren up to for the forthcoming holiday weekend?

My spouse and I have lots of plans. Tomorrow morning it starts at the National Archive with a viewing of and reading of the Declaration of Independance. A walk around the National mall , stopping into a few Smithsonians (American History is still closed). The Mall itself with have the Folklore festival. This year the subjects are Butaun, Texas and NASA (We have to ask Bruce how NASA is considered folklore and folk life). A few guests at my place for Non-British beer (the one day a year I don't use British products-especially tea) and fireworks viewing of both Washington DC's (My balcony) and Alexandria VA (My side window). The rest of the weekend will be spent visiting memorials and monuments, a quick visit to MT. Vernon for lunch (we are members of the association so we go there quite often) , dinner guests on the 5th for a traditional Maine 4th of July dinner (Salmon pie, corn, new potatoes and new peas).

And if all goes well, and the park police don't catch me , I intend to throw a small packet of tea into the Potomac , (I know , I'm about four hundred miles short , but Boston comes later this year!).

So T , please raise a glass of something and give good wishes to the "Great experiment". We are still here.

And to my British friends , UP Yours! (Only for one day, and only in fun. On the 5th of July I go back to drinking British ale , and single-malt and tea. )

Happy 4th of July to all!

You can have golf too.

Edit: btw, yes, he is a Minnesota Viking fan.

Tomorrow I'll travel to London for a couple of days, visiting my sister. I'm still undecided which museum I'm going to visit on the first day. There are 3 museums near my sister's workplace, where I will meet up with her tomorrow evening:

a) Natural Museum of History
b) Victoria & Albert Museum
c) Science Museum

Which one? YOU DECIDE!!! Not really, but some input would be nice...

Dixie?

My vote's for the science museum. But you forgot the RAF mueum at Hendon! (Actually the stop is Colingdale).

Sorry I asked Niceguy.

Yeah, apparently if you put "football fan" into google and go to the image search he's the first thing you get for European football.

OR....

go to http://www.google.co.uk/ and put football fan into the search, then see what comes up as the first image

Wrong google Dixie. You need THE ORIGINAL.
