When is she due?

She?

If you're referring to sprog, it's due 11th December. After the scan they decided to change the due date by one day I still don't understand how they can be that accurate

"She" being Mrs. Dixie. The term "when is she due" is very common in these circumstances. I've learned this by being around all those pregnant women for the past several months...

yeah engine room is closed off cause she is taking on 90 gallons of water a day and a lot of the 3rd deck is flooded so you have to do a hard hat tour to go down there and they don't do those during the summer. they are waiting on one more signiture to start the process of permenantly dry docking her and that can't come a momment to soon. i am very disapointed in my state that ship is in a not very good state. which is a shame cause the voleenters have done a great job at restoring alot of the interior.

Methinks the end of that list is nowhere in sight...

That depends on whether he can see 18+ years into the future.

About a quarter of the way through Dreadnought. Thread, there's a lot of people to keep track of in that period of history...

Just when you get a handle on them, they retire/are dismissed/lose election etc. and are replaced.

Fascinating reading, though... A period I knew little of, aside from the 1864 war.

It makes you appreciate how dramatic the German shift from a continental policy to a colonial policy (after Bismarck had been forced out) was from the British perspective.

Think I'll start reading that again.

One of the reasons I liked Dreadnought was for the potted biographies.

I picked up The Fall of the West from the library today. I know very little about Roman history so am looking forward to this.

Busy day abusing power?

My name is Kristian. You may refer to me as Sir Kristian of Toe, Lord of the Hospital, Master of the Paperwork and All Associated Anciliaries (Including Paperclips and Staples) in general and Conqueror of the Photocopier in Particular. (BSC, SSC, WitP AE)

Best not tell underling that you turn pretty girls into lesbians though...

Re-watching The Civil War. I didn't know that Shelby Foote had passed away...

I love that series, and could listen to Shelby Foote tell stories all day. I ran into him once, 10-15 years ago when I lived in Memphis. He was very friendly to someone who happened to recognize him walking down the street.

I think his American Civil War ( or rather the War Between The States ) history is one of the best.

Absolutely! I have the set of 3 and enjoyed reading them more than any other "history" books.
