bah.....at least i can see my toes. You have to take photos of yours...and then subject the rest of us to them in sensoround. The only thing better than snapping photos of the interior of a B-17 would be snapping a photo of you stuck between the bomb racks.....

pffffft.

No thanks. My claustrophobia was acting up when you posted that picture of the man squeezing between the bomb racks. That's why I became an Army scout; couldn't face riding around in a tin coffin (aka M-113).

So, uh, do I need grown-up credentials to post in here? Is there a form to fill out?

Nah, just come on down here in the bushes, and we'll show you how it's done.

Just about all of us around here are in second adolescence, so eat, drink and have Mary.

Splendid, splendid. I'll pass on Mary though, there's a lady who looks like a young Mary Woronov who might be very upset with me if I did.

That's what you get for letting yourself be attached.

In any event, the basic idea around here is to kill time until AE comes out. The way we kill time is to make complete idiots of ourselves whenever and however we can.

It's kinda fun. I even kinda like some of these morons. Some of 'em have even gotten together in person and drank 'til they puked. I don't do that, though. My kind of presence tends to make people wanna puke even before they start drinking.

Marvelous company. Sorta like having a wart on your butt that hurts like the devil every time you sit down...

jesus the b25 discussion is still going on

These discussions go on forever and usually end in some statement that can be paraphrased as "your data sucks and so do you."

"Discussion" is not really the right term, is it?

I refer you all to the Monty Python sketch:...

Spot on Simon.

What I do not understand is why the passion on that particular subject? Could B-25's carry torpedos? Probably B-26's did, although not successfully. It seems to me the whole question is did B-25's do it often enough to justify some programer taking time and space up for a "what-if?" scenario. While I love the "What if scenarios", this one doesn't seem worth the bother (or worth getting bothered). B-17's were originally tried for skip bombing (but B-25's were found to be better at it). Does that mean they re-work B-17's as skip bombers? Or P-38's as dive bombers? Save something for WITP2. I really think some people need to spend more time with their wives/girl friends. This whole debate sounds like it steems from that serious Hawaiiam disease, "lack-a-nookie". (Steps down off soap box!).

The thing about US medium bombers carrying torpedoes is that there really was no need for them to. The army's anti-ship task was to take out merchant shipping and lighter smaller ships. It was the task of the Navy and the Marines to take out the big boys and for that they had dedicated torpedo bombers.

yeah the m113 just always struck me as a huge coffine. wasn't much useful for anything else. i rode in the b24 imaginge crawling throught the bombbay and around the landing wheel while it is airborne.

You torpedoed Portland in a surface battle (in exchange for several DD's). The FOW has been keeping me from seeing the damage that I did to your carriers. I knew that I got Zukiaku,Kaga,And Shoho. And now I know that Shokuku is also sunk. Does that make sense now?

It was a contention point for a typical Allied (aka USA) vs. Japan argument....hence enter Diehl.
