You had to bring up Keanu Reeves...he was gratefully forgotten...until now...

He's lined up to co-star with Tom Cruise in my film script

What's your script storyline?...two men who drive humanity as a whole into a state of boredom that spirals so deep there is no recovery?

It also features Ben Afleck I've already sent it to Tom, so I feel safe posting the synopsis here...

Tom "is" Marvo the Magnificent, an aspiring young children's magician trying to make it big with his assistant Gerald (Paul Walker) and become the best variety act entertainer in the world, however his father (Ashton Kucher) is against this and disowns him. At his audition of America's got Talent club one of his friends, Chester the Sensational (Affleck), freezes under pressure when he runs low on magical hankies to pull from his sleeve. Marvo manages to guide him through the rest of his act from the sidelines but Chester's nerves are shot, and with it his career is over. The judges don't want to, but because Chester has dropped out Marvo is given his shot at the big time in the entertainer's school Top Fun. When he arrives with his assistant he soon makes an enemy in the shape of Ignacio the Illusionist (Keanu Reeves) who is also vying for the top spot and the chance to become an instructor at the school. In an unfortunate accident Geraldine is killed when a rabbit out of the hat trick goes badly wrong. Shortly afterwards Marvo and Ignacio are both injured by collapsing card tables. Whilst in hospital they find out that Ignacio may never perform magic again. Against his better judgment Marvo agrees to perform for both of them in the final of America's Got Talent. Marvo wins the talent show, watching the show at home is his father who is now proud of his son and wants to get back into contact. Father and son meet up again and re-unite. Shortly afterwards Marvo meets up with Ignacio who is recovering better than the doctors thought, the film ends with a slow-motion hug and the (soon to be immortal line)

Ignacio: "That was real good man. You can be my assistant anytime!"
Marvo: "Bullpoo! You can be MY assistant..."

what is wrong with you. that took way to much throught.

You took the words right out of my mouth...we, almost...I would have used the word 'thought'...

There's no thought needed. Every Tom Cruise film is the same, although casting actors of the same calibre as TC is not always easy...

Tom Cruise wants to be the best in the world at something.
He gets a shot at the major leagues in his chosen field.
Tom makes an enemy in the process.
TOm suffers a major setback.
He overcomes the setback to get a final chance.
Against the odds Tom overcomes the problems and becomes the best.
Tom and enemy also turn into Best Friends Forever (BFF).

Dear Thread.  The email client wars have broken out at our little company.

Some fool suggested it would be a good idea to have a policy mandating a particular client.

Sides are deeply entrenched, as the upstart techies square off against the imperial business folks.

I would hope you're a member of the imperial business folk, it's the only choice for those interested in world domination.

I am, hence my siding with Outlook as a client. It makes my life far easier (for me). Everyone supports Outlook. The other side has bought into this whole Thunderbird is cool scam. It's cool if you like fewer features.

I miss the Outlook 'feature' where it corrupts your mailbox losing all your saved emails which are unrecoverable because they are in an undecipherable format.

Outlook sucks. Thunderbird is marginally better. Frankly, at this point, Gmail has the most convenient and easy email interface out there. Period. And it is way easier to support than a mail server.

And yes, you can get your own domain on gmail.

not having a standard is stupid. what we do is if you want to run a diff client than the standard then that is fine but we don't support it. and please don't tell me your techies are trying to push a client no one has ever heard of?

We do have a standard. What has been proposed is a policy that only one client should be allowed in the company. Since we don't run any enterprise systems this seems unnecessary to me. Most of our guys provide their own tech support anyway...except our accountant who seems hopelessly lost when it comes to technology post y2k.

This whole mess started when our President forwarded an email from a client. Apparently the attachments were turned into winmail.dat file. That was the spark needed for the anti-Microsoft contingent to take up arms.

I'm a die hard Outlook user. I've been using it since the Win 98 days and have never had a problem with lost mail...it does tend to be a resource hog and can cause instability when run with other apps which is very hard to predict, but its got great features and support. Thunderbird is what the techies think we should replace it with.

Here was my argument...everyone except Thunderbird, including gmail, supports MS Outlook and it's proprietary formats. Why? With Outlook and Hotmail MS has nearly 70% of the business market.

It's a Michael Bay flick, there is no plot.

had not thought about it that way. we were going to play a drinking game with it cause we are watching it at studio movie grill but i am on antibiodics for a sinus infection so i think i am going to have to pass on that.

Not a doctor, but I think drinking helps a sinus infection and if your antibiotics can't take a little alcohol, they don't deserve to be in your system. Just my pov.

Problem with antibiotics is that they SOMETIMES can produce the "antabuse" reaction, i.e. - they cause violent vomitting in anyone consuming alcohol. (Antabuse is a drug given to alcoholics to help them stop drinking... good for guys with poor impulse control... if they slip up and drink while on antabuse, they won't do it a second time... of course, many of them elect not to take Antabuse anymore.)

Then there's the whole issue of alcohol sometimes lowers one's immune system...so it would seem a bit counter productive.

The problem with Outlook is not reasonably technically proficient people like yourself. It's the idiots like your PHB. I've never lost a thing with Outlook but I have had to deal with the wrath of PHBs who did.

So I understand exactly why IT guys HATE Outlook. It's a support nightmare.

THANK YOU!!! Can we please stop pretending that Megan Fox is "sexy" in any way??? It's ridiculous!

I'm afraid I'll have to continue pretending.

Megan Fox is not the most beautiful woman in the world, but I don't know that I would kick her to the curb.

Now, to tie both movie threads together, my favorite Bond film that also had Brosnan in it was "The World is not Enough." Two reasons. Sophie Marceau! She is sexy in every way!

Sorry, Bruce, I loved his performances.  Maybe it was the way the character was written, and seeing Bond adjust to his career.  I really liked his recklessness.  I just found Craig to be a good fit.
