Well, the first question then would be how do you know that your industry is grinding to a halt?

I sympathize Bobo. I was new to the Japanese production system about a year ago. I was asking the same exact questions...mostly I got referred to the threads on IJ production in the "must read" sticky thread on the main page. I have to say it did help.

I have to qualify the next statements with, I have not played Japan in CHS. In stock I think you are doing well if you have at least 6 months worth of resources and oil in the home islands by Q2 1943, but then that depends on how you play...aggressive, you may need more. I find that I tend to over produce and thus am chronically running low. Ultimately I simply use resources and oil in the HI as a benchmark. If I'm several months ahead then I'm doing ok.

You know I don't recognize the screen name, but that avatar is one I've associated with a person that makes comments just like that all the time. Some people just aren't happy if they aren't miserable and do their best to make everyone else as miserable as they are.

Bobo, WiptTracker will definitely help you see where your issues are. The Witp Chart on the Industry screen is critical, as is the Oil/Res screen on the same page. You also need to check the Ship Production page and halt stuff that is making you go negative. Shinano is a good candidate in the Naval pool, and large AKs in the merchant pool.

Look at Air Production and check the Engines screen to see where you might be short in engine production. Convert as needed.
