Afaik, the English always say: "They in Europe" - they don't consider themselves to be in Europe

You all speak foreign over there...

I read a story on the BBC website yesterday about a gentleman from the UK who refused to pay his TV tax because he said the BBC news was biased toward the European Union in its news reporting.

If I told you, you'd never look at congealed pig's blood in the same way again I think most regions have a similar thing, blood sausage/blutwurst or whatever. I still don't like it.

We have it here as well... it is called "krvavice" (i.e. blood sasusage)!

Well, it is quite tasty - if eaten with sauerkraut (really!)

Is that on the assumption that two horrible things taken together become one good thing?

We here also love our sausages together with souerkraut and with potato (potato is fisrt cooked and then baked)... its is very very very good stuff... and we like to drink beer with it...

BTW, in winter and spring wife and I often go hiking and usually eat the above mentioned food in some small restaurant at the summit (our near by mountains here are just barely above 1000m and have plently of nice small family restaurants for hungry hikers)...

I think so!

Both alone aren't what I like, but I was invited several times to home slaughterings where this was offered. It had its own taste, but yes, it wasn't bad. Maybe all the beer and schnaps also had its part

Eric, you can't help being French.  Maybe one day you'll learn to cope with your 'disability', but until then we're willing to help you manage

At least, you aren't from europe, right

As an englishman, i think Dixie is in Europe...but without being in it, but being a small part of it but not within.....;
Sorry, it's a bit of an old joke in France...it's coming as far as General De Gaulle.
I don't want to ignite any political debate here.....

When I was an exchange student in the UK in 1983, I was frequently and strongly advised by British students that they were not Europeans. I recall one young lady being most emphatic that "they were subjects, not citizens". Most of my British friends now refer to themselves as Europeans and as citizens. So I'm assuming that times have changed. And just for the record, I'm one American who loves British food. But also French,Scandanavian,German,Spanish,Portugese,Carribean,South American,Japanese,Korean........H'm, I starting to see a pattern here...

And use funny money.

And eat strange food.

we???

A well, I forgot! The english kitchen is well known worldwide...

Mmmmm...jellied eels, black pudding and tripe. Yum!

Well, at least your....errr no.
Your ....no, not that either.
Maybe when you cook some....hmmmm, not anymore.
Oh yes : your tea !!!!

Too right old boy. I spent a couple of weeks on a German exchange trip when I was a lad. The family I was staying with couldn't believe how much tea I drank. Or how strong I brewed it.

My 'local' food is Cornish pasties and Devon cream tea or Lincolnshire sausages and plum loaf. Not at the same time though

And let's not forget the foods with colorful (or is it colorful) names. Bubble n' squeak, toad in the hole, and of course, bangers and mash. And the name that got me into trouble on one occassion, saucy faggotts.

The only food from the UK that I have trouble duplicating is scotch eggs. It's a real trick to keep the sausage on the egg when frying it. None of the British cook books I've picked up over the years gives the secret.

Congratulations, Historiker!

If they would only pay a sum worth to mention...

But at least, I'll recieve a new uber-PC (funny to see that the US use "über" ) every three month as well as most PC-games and Videos.

I'll only occaisionally write ordinary articles but'll be responsible for the new mutlimedia section of this journal thus getting payed for my hobby...
