nothing really. Just middle of the week blues at Hell.

Applied for 4 more jobs this week. One hit.....the usual "thx for applying. Please be patient as we have received many resumes for this position and will be spending the next week or two reviewing them. Please do not reply to this email" I think my odds of winning Lotto are slightly higher at this point.

Doctors suck. As usual, can't be told anything specific. Throw some pills at it and hope it gets better. I know what i need to "get better"

When doctors start being specific, it's usually bad news

my health has been really bad for the last couple of years. At worst, i've been bed ridden, too weak to do anything. Much of the time i just feel very unwell. I'm told to exercise to counteract the stress effects. Unfortunately it often has the opposite effect and makes me feel worse. Its also frustrating because i know 64 year olds who feel better and can do more than me. Still i keep trying. Did an hour on the bike yesterday and almost felt good afterwords.

almost.

no need to apologize. Didn't mean mean to dump on the Thread regarding it anyway. I guess i should apologize. . The original "" was more the fact that it's a wednesday in Hell and still got about 7 hours to go till temporary freedom.

Well, i was a bit sensitive too about health for the time being, having a very close people with health problems. It make it easier to understand what others people can endure in case of bad news. I hope things will go better for you...and the personn i know.

good evening to all, gentlemens

on more amusing news.....i'm sure most everyone has seen those clever Mac vs PC commericals. You know the deal....Mac is so great.....PC sucks.....you'll never have problems with a Mac like you do PC.

pffff.

Used Bootcamp to partition my GF's Imac the other day so that Windows could be loaded....(another highly toted feature) Seemed to work fine (did this two previous times with no hiccups) but apparantly third was the charm. Now the Imac won't boot up at all in OS X mode and despite there being 30 days to activate for Windows it won't load without activation.

Even the disk utility feature on the install disk failed to resolve the issue. It kept showing a volume error, said it fixed it but when you reverify the disk, the error appears again. Running out of options, tried to reinstall X without reformatting and losing the volume. Fails.....please contact your software distributor.

yeah...this really feels different from PC.

You should have just used VMWare fusion and run Windows in a VM. That's why I do on my Mac at work.

oh i didn't. GF wanted it because Adobe suite software seems geared to work best on Mac's (We had the PC version and it did crash alot.) Also admitedly, the monitor is gorgious and good for graphic design.

GF of course is now a total mac convert and gives me, the "PC guy" sheit about how much better Mac is. LoL......till yesterday that is.....of course she blames "Windows" for the screwup of the O/S but Bootcamp is supposed to be so marvelous a feature....

Oh my... I am hot here (at the forum ) for few hours and another 100 year war between England and France starts once more...

It never really ended

Somehow I suspected that Eric...

Leo "Apollo11"

i like to hate them...i'm sure the reverse is true !

When i went to Scotland, there was a B&B which was hosted by an englishmen. In the entrance of his house was a paint board of Agincourt. Whyle laughing, i said to the man "it's not very pleasant for the Frenc" and with much humor he replied "it is not intended to !". He was very kind, take good care of us, show us a little tiny road leading upper of Eilan Donan Castle, and gave us an adress in Sky island. And i surely can understand someone can be proud of a victory.
In fact, it's all about a childish game of "wich one is the stronger" but if i feel it's silly, i stop it quick because what i really matter about is the man i'm talking to.

When I was a student at King Alf's in Winchester , there was a great attempt to have a "Invade France society". The reason? Why all the other English colleges had one! So they founded one. As near as I could tell, the primary function was to plan a once-a-year "Invade France" banquet. By banquet , I meant the British word for "drunk-fest". They never did invade France, but I must admit that it seemed strange that the members wanted yours truly to give the two big toasts...."The Loyal toast (to the Queen)" and the "traditional toast" (death to the French!). There were two of us present with French last names (I was the only Yank), and the other fellow claimed "his peole were Swiss, actually"......

It's easy to be proud of a victory when you aren't standing on the field looking at the carnage.

I absolutely agree with you.
When i was a child, i dreamed of being the hero of a great battle.
Growing older, i just feel i would be scared, sick, trying to hide. And if not on the battlefield, thinking that killing someone else because it's uniform or language is different is probably not enough for a reason.

Sadly , unless you are an grunt , war for many of us would have been very much like a computer game....Push a button, Boom! an enemy warship disppears from my RADAR screen. Is it real or a simulator? (you look out the window to tell!).

These days , unless you are a graphic artist (and not so much even then) there isn't all that much difference, except that there is less software available to MAC.

like i said to the GF unit who was flabbergasted that such a thing "could happen" [to a Mac] an O/S is an O/S...sometimes things go south and corrupt. This is why backups are a good thing. Fortunately for her she keeps all her school stuff on an external hard drive. Got one more trick to try to save what is on the volume but if that doesn't work, its reformat time.

at least....(after doing some MacForum reserach)....i hope it's the O/S. Seems this problem has a good # of hits. (The Apple "White screen of Death"....equiv to the Windows Blue Screen of Death)

if it's not the O/S, then it's the Hard Drive or motherboard. Ouch. Good thing it's under warrenty.

similar to Parraells? I found that a bad experience as it really slowed down preformance. Normally Bootcamp works fine....(assuming that's what caused the problem)

Why is it that every army seems to have at least one brilliant blowhard?

i think they have loads of blowhards... maybe that there is only one brilliant one perhaps reflect the overall IQ of the organizations??

Perhaps, there doesn't seem to be any way to test or quatify that. But you had Degalle for the French,Patton for the US and Montgomery for the US. Many would add MacAurthr, but I found him to be only occassionally brilliant . Each of these men seemed to do a better job planning then their peers, then spend an inordinate amount of time and effort in proclaiming their brilliance. I suppose if they didn't scream how smart they were, then no one would have noticed , and we would simply have 3 (or4) more competant generals that no one ever noticed or made movies about.

i'm not sure i would throw montgomery in with the others.

I've not had that problem, but I did upgrade my Macbook to 4G of RAM. RAM is critical for virtualization to perform.
