Very nice of screenshots... I would like to know how it goes... and soon to sell/update the game "Crown of Glory: Emperor's Edition" to us

Oh yes, do this require normal CoG "Europe in the Age of Napoleon" to install Edition?

Thanks.

COG:EE will be a new product that does not require owning the older one to install.

What about leaders.  Can they be killed/wounded?  Is there going to be more than there is now?

Our goal had been to have it out before the end of summer, but for various reasons, especially the need to test the economic balance of all of the scenarios now that the map has been redone and numerous new provinces added, is forcing us to push that back a bit. We still have one scenario being finished up that will need to be tested, plus there's the usual hunt for bugs. So, we're definitely close, but it will now have to be after Sept. 21 rather than before it as originally hoped.

Expect some new screenshots and perhaps even an AAR or two quite soon, perhaps even next week.

We're very close to authorizing the beta-testers to do public AAR's if they wish to.

Time for some more screenshots, trying to cover stuff not seen in the AAR's yet.

First, here's a shot showing all the units that I can build in Normandy, which because it has a harbor also produces ships. As you can see, I've selected a Light Cavalry unit. This is a shot from the "standard" economy, which only uses money and labor (unlike the "advanced" economy, which is what current COG owners are familiar with).

As in "Forge of Freedom," we've made it easier to build multiple units in multiple provinces, using the City List screen for this purpose. To make a purchase in Normandy using this screen I just had to click on its row in the "Production" column. (The Development column is for building city walls, guns and barracks, in case you were wondering.)

One of the bigger changes ported over from "Forge of Freedom" is that units now get "special abilities." Whereas in FOF these are randomly acquired through combat experience or taught to a brigade by a general, in COG:EE you can spend experience points to select the one(s) you most need. In this screenshot, as you can see, I've decided that the men of the 3rd Infantry Division, based on their combat experience, have become much more tenacious after rallying.

The same goes for fleets (something we don't have in FOF, where naval combat isn't as central to the game).

Here is France's largest starting fleet in the 1805 scenario.

And here, as you can see, are the special abilities available for ships if one spends naval experience points. I start with only twenty points, so here are the abilities I can afford. (Looks like the crew of the L'Aigle have weathered a storm or two. And yes, I know that "the L'Aigle" is redundant to anyone who knows French. I even know that "aigle" means "eagle"!)

And now has come for the first screenshot from our new naval combat hex-war system. But, since those ship graphics still aren't done, I've deliberately taken a screenshot that shows no ships or action. Ain't I a stinker? (The aigle-eyed among you will see part of a ship in the lower-right corner. That's the most you'll get until the graphics are done.)

What this screenshot shows is our attack report, something familiar to those of you who play "Forge of Freedom" detailed battles. After each exchange of fire, you have the option of accessing this screen to see what the "dice rolls" and modifier effects were. I post this to give you a sense of the great depth that COG:EE's naval combat system has. Soon enough we'll have the graphics done and Hard Sarge and/or another tester will post a naval AAR, and you'll get a better idea of how it works.

And finally (for now), another substantial addition to COG is that each nation now may experience historical or random events on occasion. This one popped up for me this evening so I snapped a picture. There are something like ninety overall. (If you're wondering, it turned out to be Tyrolia that was affected.)

More screenshots coming soon!

A few more screenshots, showing some of the ways in which we've added greatly to replayability. One is the addition of the chance to play minor powers, which replace Sweden as one of the eight playable powers if chosen.

Also, when choosing victory conditions you can opt for "Path of Napoleon," which requires duplicating his accomplishments.

I just realised... Why would I have been Swedish if I had been born in 1804. Sweden did not "get" Norway untill AFTER the Napoleonic war.
Damn Swedish diplomat forgot to add some islands in the deal as well...
Anyway, the major power "up there" should be Denmark-Norway, not Sweden-Norway which does not come into being untill 1814.

And another major Q, Are we there yet?

No, but we're getting there. Believe me, the second we have ship graphics in the game I will put aside everything -- other than giving a kidney to a family member, should there be a need for that -- and make some screenshots.

Hello,
Regarding the comments made in respect of the "River Trent" on the map of England.

The River Trent joins the Humber River some 13 miles from the centre of Kingston Upon Hull. It runs due South for some 40 miles to Newark, South-West some 50 miles, then North West some 40 miles. It therefore should be a "J ish" shape on the map rather than the due West that has been shown, which ( as has been acknowledged ), is more like the River Calder ( can't trace that River Washburn though ).

However, the use of the River Trent as a Midlands / North divider is reasonable, as stated; but only for historical reasons.

( By the way, as stated above, the Humber is a River. It also has an Estuary. Centuries have made any distinction between the River & the Estuary difficult. If anything the West - East part is the river and the North - South part is the Estuary, but thats conjecture.)

HiHi

Sorry DEB, as you live in England and therefore should know better I feel I should attempt to correct this; I think it is totally inaccurate to say However, the use of the River Trent as a Midlands / North divider is reasonable, as stated; but only for historical reasons.

As I understand it the River Humber has historically always been used to define the boundary between North and the Midlands it is documented in Anglo-Saxon times as the southern border of the Kingdom of Northumbria (not even to sure that Northumbria doesn't derive from "North of the Humber" but ... ?) and what would at various times be the Kingdom of Mercia, notably King Penders (the last Pagan English king) realm.

Most of the rest of what you say is correct, the Trent rises in Staffordshire and does it's J loop to join the Humber as you say (I sailed up it as a Sea Scout in the days of my youth)

Without wishing to seem too pedantic ( ... on second thoughts, stuff it why the Hell not!) I didn't follow up on Mr Z's assertions about Estuaries as I feared the discussion might dissolve into semantic Yak re the definition of an Estuary, after all it's their game if they want to be wrong then fine, and the game will still be great anyhow. But for accuracies sake the River Humber becomes an Estuary in Hull where the river flows slightly north and then meanders back in a southerly direction, I know this cause it's marked on the Ordinance survey map I used while tentatively House hunting in Hull (don't you just hate smart arses )

No it’s Ok don’t thank me, it’s a pleasure to show a fellow countryman the path to enlightenment ... sort of , ‘fraid they folk across the Pond are beyond help

All the Best
Peter
