How about the Mogami?  Has a counter, built between the wars (1934 launch), built as a light cruiser but was upgunned to a heavy cruiser giving a counter in Ship in Flames?

Is the right answer . The addition of Cruisers In Flames means light cruisers have their own counters too, not that it matters for the Mogamis which were made heavy cruisers and thus were catered for in Ships In Flames.

Answers for mine.

1. What two US submarines were confirmed to have sunk themselves?  USS Tang and USS Tullibee - it is quite possible there were others but the lack of survivors make it impossible to confirm

2. What US Submarine struck its target with 13 of 15 torpedoes (13 in a row) and failed to sink its target?  USS Tinosa - The (un)lucky target was the 19,000 ton tanker Tonan Maru 3 which had been crippled by Tinosa's first spread of four torpedoes (fired at a poor angle of attack) of which two hit aft destroying her ability to steam.  Tinosa moved to a perfect position directly abeam the tanker at point blank range.  Tinosa fired a single torpedo which struck but failed to explode.  Tinosa continued firing torpedoes one at a time, methodically, and each torpedo was calibrated and checked before firing.  All hit and all were duds, one even putting on a show, leaping into the air after striking and landing 100 ft away from the tanker.  Lt. Cmdr Daspit saved the last torpedo to take back to base to be checked.  Needless to say, upon his return, tests were ordered and the issue with the firing pin were found and solved.

IIRC the Tang's torpedo must have had a jammed rudder because it ran in a circle and came back to hit the sub.

One for the grognards now.

Which ship am I?

- I fought during WWII but do not have a WIF counter (I was not big enough)

Quite right, and the same for USS Tullibee. Mk 14's with the dreaded circular run issue. With USS Tang, I think nine of the crew survived and for USS Tullibee only Gunner's Mate C.W. Kuykendall survived to tell the tale.

Oh well, there are only six possibilites now, so this is the second and last clue.

Which ship am I?

- I fought during WWII but do not have a WIF counter (I was not big enough)
- I had two Norwegian sisters and five RN sisters.

Well I'll try the shotgun effect, it must be one of these :

Saumarez, Savage, Scorpion, Scourge, Serapis, Swift, Shark (Norwegian Svenner), Success(Norwegian Stord)

So starting at the beginning is it Saumarez

Sorry, it was either this, or six posts.

I was going with the only allied ship sunk on the D-Day.

I usually have only a rough idea in my head when I choose the ship so I do not have definitive questions. However, I said this was for the grognards so would have had a vague reference to the post war "Corfu Incident" as one clue, as well as the fact she took part in a famous action during the war in northern waters (North Cape). I would also have said the ships' name suggests a Spanish or Latin American vessel - but she was named after a famous Admiral not from any of those countries.

However, you ruined my fun

Well I can't claim much knowledge, as I said, it was using a shotgun method and a shot in the dark at that.

How about Yagodnik used for one of the 617 Sqn attempts at the Tirpitz.

Blucher, Hipper or Prinz Eugen - I'll go for Prinz Eugen

On second thoughts - I can't see a Caesar turret so maybe it is Scharnhorst.....I'll stick with Eugen though.

It is indeed Prinz Eugen. Nice work in identifying her.

She had after all been mistaken for another ship before.

It is there. It looks to be aiming to the port side.

Edit: As been pointed out it is the starboard side.
