Well this is my last hope but I have had a problem with my mouse just freezing up and then a blue screen comes up briefly and the system reboots. I had a wireless mouse (MS6000 series) that I thought was the problem because I had had some problems with it.
I reinstalled my MS 3000 series optical mouse and USB keyboard. It works in evry other game. I played oblivion for about 6 hrs. to day (lots of mouse clicks) with no problem but I boot up this game and every few minutes the mouse will freeze and jump around the screen on its own the black screen, blue screen for a second, then the system reboots.
I am hoping someone will have a solution but I doubt it.

Just when I find a great game to play....sometimes life is just to cruel.

Does your computer still have a PS72 port for the mouse? Try getting an USB to PS/2 adapter and plug it in there. See if that helps.

Sometimes other USB devices (printer, scanner, USB hub etc.) interfere with USB mice. Unplug any other USB device and see if that helps.

I would suggest reinstalling your graphic card drivers too.

Ok how about a different mouse problem, I just opened up my SPWAW v8.4 and for some reason game start up is fine then I selected camapign, 2/1942, WWII N. Africa, selected my US Army units and set them up for amphibious invasion, got to the bombardment screen and 1) the mouse moves over the cursor but no action occurs, 2) mouse scrolling speed is screwy almost like it jumps left right up down etc., eventually freezes and here I am after twice re opening different scenarios with the same result. computer meets specs (WinXP SP3, 2.8Ghz P4, 1.5GB RAM, corded optical mouse microsoft 102 key keyboard),  mouse is fine when selecting scenario or campaign right up to bombardment phase... frustrating - Any Ideas????

only the advise given to me.
1. latest video card drivers (mine were a year old)
2.use a USB/PS2 mouse adapter
3. make sure you do not have more than just the game window running. No music, no manual etc.NO MULTI TASKING
4. Run the game in window mode.

good luck
