OK ... question for all you experts out there. The disinformation campaigne of a manual states " In addition, fortifications can multiply the defending force’s assault value for odds by up to three." Do we assume Gary did a Static graduation (I.e fort level 0-3 = x1, 4-6 = x2 , 7-9 = x3 or 0 = x1, 1-5 =x2, 6-9 =x3.) or a Bell graduation I.e 0 = x1, 2-6 x2, 7-9 x3 or 0= x1, 2-8 =x2, 9 = x3.) for the Fortification levels? ....has anyone done any experiments? Could it be broken up even more fratualy? (I.e 0 = x1, 1-3 = 1.5, 4-6 =2, 7-8 =2.5, 9 =3.) Any thoughts?

I really do not know, but I would assume ( that ugly word again ) that each for level is worth an additional ( 1 / 3 ) * AV.

Can't be Nomad .... if it was 1/3 with 9 = to 3 then we get.
9=3
8=2.66
7=2.33
6=2
5=1.66
4=1.33
3=1
2= .66
1= .33
0=0
2, 1, and 0 would be less than 1 .... a negitive modifier for the defender ... See my point?

no, I guess it would be 1 fort = 1,33 multiplier, 2 fort = 1,66, 3 fort = 1,99 and so on...

That would make 7 ,8 and 9 Greater than 3 with that progression castor

What I've been told, and read somewhere around here, is that level 5 forts provide x2 modifier, and level 9 provide x3.  The levels in between are fractions progressing toward each.  Again, not my scientific study.

I always thought it would be greater than 3

Now that it is not 4 AM, I'll try again. The AV for level should be something like 1 + ( ( 2 / 9 ) * fort )

Now, how it is actually done is a guess if I can't look at the code ( and even then I might have a problem )

Umm ok Nomand let's see ...... 1+((2/9)*Fort ...lets go with fort level 9
1 + ((2/9)*9) = 1 + (4.5*9) = 1 + (40.5) = 41.5
Is that what you had in mind? Seems a tad high to me.

1+ ((2/9)x9) = 1+ (18/9) = 1 + (2) = 3

Taken the other way ...... 2 divided by 9
1 + ((9/2) x9) = 1 + ((.22~) * 9) = 1 + ( 1.99~) = 3
Now that could work

SO that gives us ....
9 = 3
8 = 2.7
7 = 2.5
6 = 2.3
5 = 2.1
4 = 1.8
3 = 1.6
2 = 1.4
1 = 1.2
0 = 1
Sound right?

Heh- well, the numbers are probably not exact, but then again, everything in the game is subject to multiple die rolls, so even if the were off by .1 or .2, i doubt you'd ever notice.

So, yes, they are close enough that i'd use them as a guideline for trying to figure out how many troops are need for an invasion.
