Hi all,
OK I know I've been out of it for a while, in more ways than one, but I loaded JTCS for the first time then got all patched up with 1.03 and tried a PBEM. I can't find my *.bte file that I saved in any of the WF, EF, RS directories. A search turns up a shortcut. Am I so stupid or is very late?

Dave

You are sure that you clicked the red button and a popup said your file is ready to be sent?

Where does this "shortcut" point you to?

Which game? For example WF, open the WF folder, in the top tool bar, click View, hover over arrange by and click type, scroll down and look for bte files.

Do you have your computer set to show extensions?

I clicked the red button and saved with no problems or so it looked. I tried WF, EF, RS directories with the same result. When I went to attach the file to the email they weren't there.
I searched the hard drive and only found a "shortcut" to the file in some 5 deep obscure sub dirtectory under the windows directory.

When I installed the program I put it under C\Program Files\Matrix Games instead of the C\Matrix Games like it wanted to. Could this be the problem?

Ok I see you joined theblitz. Here is a link to the How To PBEM page

http://www.theblitz.org/training_ground/index.php

Click in Campaign Series

I have an old PBEM in RS. I start the game from the Matrix Gamemenu. I click Play Scenario, then PBEM, the Resume Saved Game at the top. The next screen lists my saved games (Attu Island). To the lower right it lists the file name (!!Attu_PvsB.bte).

If you started this mystery game and don't know where you sent it to, I suggest starting over if the above doesn't help.

BTW, blitz members save their files with something like !! at the beginning so that you can sort the folder by name and the !! file will be near the top.

I've been away from the game for a while and am back. Actually, the active work being done on this fine game caught my attention so I bought it again to get back into it.

Anyway, I figured out the problem. I had to uninstall the game from where I put it, C:\Program files\Matrix Games and reinstall it to C:\Matrix Games\
When it asks you in the beginning if you want to change its location, don't! Install it where it wants to go. I can now find my file & zip it with no problem.

Everything is coming back to me now, my amnesia is wearing off...
Thanks for you help junk
Dave
