So,

I have had the game for almost 4 years or so and have played numerous Allied campaigns. However, I had not played in over a year and decided that it was time to get back into it. I have never tried Japan because I can't balance my own checkbook and figured that a national wartime economy would also be out of my ability...

Well, in my current game vs the computer I have managed to take all of the oil out of the us and dump it on Palmyra!! I was attempting to get oil to my Australian allies because WITPtracker said I had too!!! Well, now I have taken all the oil out of the US and runied it's economy, stranded the oil on this little speck of an isaland and can't get it off, and all of my allies from Sydney to Deli are screaming for oil that I cant get to go anywhere!!!

I need to take another look at my checkbook!!!

Anyway, the point comes to this:

Is there a port size limit to loading oil? I dropped the oil off at Palmyra to start a shuffling service between San Fran and Sydney but every tanker I order to load up there just leaves empty! Hopefully, there is an answer other then the fact that I am an idiot! Anyone else ever taken all the oil out of the west coast? IT's ok.....no need for confession...

You've been bitten by the game engine.

You can't load oil unless there are also non-zero resources in the hex. Dump some resources on Palmyra, and you should be good to go.

Out of curiosity: why did you unload at Palmyra?

If I remember right, the tankers were in the red heading to canton so I just chose the next closest..

I was running oil with the "Do not Unload" option on but I had to micromanage for each stop along the way...

SO, I thought of a shuttle system because I am so smart.....didn't work like I thought it owuld obviously!

If I were doing that, I think putting a conventionally fueled tanker or oiler with the oil-carrying ships would have eliminated the need for an intermediate transfer point.  That way the tankers carrying oil could refuel from the other ship and keep on going until they reached Australia.

That, or set up a refueling station on Palmyra or Baker Island; I've got both set up to do that and have TF's heading for the SW or South Pacific stop there (use Do Not Unload on the TF cargo) and then continue on after refueling.

John,

you are absolutely correct. The use, or lack there of, of AOs is a horrible oversight on me. I am not using a single one of these like I should. Perhaps this is the catalyst that will get me to use them more. As a side note, I was reading just the other day about how you can set them up at a spot in the ocean and they would refuel passers by like oasis gas statioins! Another neat trick that I need to start using!
