Status: offline 		As the Union, when Union controls Fort Jackson and Conferates control New Orleans, what does it take for the Union to march from Fort Jackson to New Orleans? I have accomplished this in past games, but have been unseccuessful in current game, disspite repeated attempts with initiative.

How many movements points are needed and is the Army just failing a check?

Status: offline 		Well, you can't get there from here without transports and amphibious because in this particular case, the song is not true, "there ain't no river wide enought". In this case, the river is wide enough; you can't walk across, the current is too strong to swim and those pesky rebs didn't build any bridges.

You go up Highway 23 and take a right at the Westbank Expressway. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Status: offline 		It takes 5 MP to move in summer, 6 in winter. That means a leader with an infantry skill of 4 will be able to make the move in summer if he gets initiative. Basically, you need to take NO amphibiously, or from across the river via the road.

His tongue may have been so planted, but that is exactly what happened historically. Once Forts St. Phillip and Jackson were passed, the Union fleet arrived in New Orleans and the city surrendered. There was no Civil War "Battle of New Orleans."

Wow, it wasn't like the reb's to just give in without a fight. I guess they didn't have any troops available to defend NO once the Union fleet got past the forts at the mouth of the Mississippi. Thanks for the info.

Status: offline 		There were a lot of Rebel civilians on the riverside wharf shaking their fists at the Yankee fleet when it arrived, but there wasn't much they could do. Given how close to sea level New Orleans is, Farragut's guns pretty much had the streets covered.

Status: offline 		I have taken NO via land from Fort St. Philip before and could not figure out how to duplicate it, even with a Infantry Skill of 4. Now I understand it is only possible in the Summer.
