For me it's Road to Victory. CEAW just somehow didn't work out..... too light I guess....

What makes this game so unique is he has assembled some of the hardest core WiF players from all over the world to help him on this projrct.

Which is awesome, excellent, <insert favorite adjective here>, for the current WiF players but doesn't mean much of anything to those who haven't played. I'd honestly prefer to hear that there are hoards of people playtesting that have never touched the game before and that they are working on tuning the interface and tutorials to accomodate the under or un-initiated. I could care less if some optional rule or some nuance isn't implemented correctly. I'll never know either way.

This is SOOOO True.

I have played and seen many games that "Only Fans", or Friends. The end result is a game that only thoses in the know understand why and what is going on.

This happens in board games, computer, and many other things.

Changes that occur and bits get left out and everyone involved understands but the general public gets left out.

Like writing books and such,a few outside eyes should always be used to look at it, to help catch things that those too close will never see.

Few do it, but those that do produce better products.

GL

I hope its all it can be, but that inclosed view makes me wary.

Gearing up for war in the West. Germany has conquered Poland, the Soviets have taken eastern Poland and annexed Latvia et al.

Snow is moving in from the west and you can almost see the fog moving off the coast of England.

This is a pbem game that I have going now (beta test). FOW is turned ON (optional) and so I don't have the full picture of what Germany is amassing on the borders of France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

CWIEII- Western Front

Well actually every time the MWiF BETA team has been expanded Steve has tried to get a mix of vets/amateurs/newbies into the team to make sure the game is true to WIF AND playable for newcomers.

We're going through the 'sitzkrieg' right now as snow is covering all of Europe (January '40). Once my opponent kicks off an operation somewhere (West front most likely of course) then I'll post some more screenshots or perhaps just start a new thread for the game - maybe writing a detailed AAR.

CWIEII, the invasion of France has begun in our Pbem game. Note that FOW is ON, so I don't know what all the Germans have coming at me. Note that I have turned on the option to display Air Interdiction icons. Various other features can be enabled/disabled including ZOC's, Weather Zones, Supply, Hex ownership and others.

France 1940

In a subsequent turn, MUD was in effect for this area and has slowed down the German advance a bit. My opponent also attempted an "Eban Emal" air assault but landed out of supply and the force was thus eliminated. Also, Belgium and the Netherlands have been conquered now in our game but the French border remains mostly intact. Turns are weekly turns with 13 cycles per turn, so these are some long, detailed games; yet easy to play since all of the rules of the boardgame are enforced for you. For those unfamilar with the boardgame (War in Europe), it is the largest board wargame ever produced, with 9 full sized maps and an unGODly amount of counters. Also featured are 4 different CRT's, which one that is used depends on the forces attacking and the various conditions surrounding the attack (weather, supply, defensive bonuses, etc).

Oh I can see I'm going to be in trouble here but, WiF was not a big favorite of mine - just didn't like the way research/diplomacy was handled.  It's is old and has never been done as a PC game, but my all time favorite is the combination of "Advanced Third Reich" and "Pacific War" by Victory Games.  The use of diplomatic points based on country and events with tables of events just worked better for me.  The actual units and movements may have been a little basic, though.  I'm vastly out numbered here but that is still my opinion.

The Pacific Version of "Advanced Third Reich" was called "Empire of the Rising Sun". But then again you probably new that since "Pacific War" was a better game to me as well.

But game system wize its totally different and EotRS is the same

Oops! I got them both and haven't played either in a while --- . I agree that as a stand alone game, Pacific War is better. The approach is much more broad scale in Rising Sun. Connected to Advanced Third Reich, though, it made for an interesting world grand strategy game.

Hate to be nitpicky (and I own and enjoy Witp), but WitP is really just a huge operational game, with some grand strategic elements added (e.g. production). Roosevelt didn't worry about whether he should set the 57th Bomber Group to bomb from 5000 vs. 15000 feet.

Even if a beautiful game I don't think too that WitP is a Strategy Game.

About the original question, I believe that surely WiF will be an awesome game.
