OK, how does this work? 11 Zeros sent, 16 shot down, and 17 scored as losses for VP. So 150% VP of the actual loss. I know plots over claim, but that is counted for VP?

looks like a bug, I think 6 zero's where destroyed on the ground instead of in the air. Most likely some variant of the the replay bug....

Air combat sometimes sucks in planes from other hexes during the combat, and sometimes planes still on the ground are added in to the combat. These additions are not listed on the report. Sometimes you will see plane types shot down that werent even reported in the combat.

It isnt "really" a bug, its part of the FoW (or so I am told).

I don't see how, the Zeros were on long range CAP, and this was the only combat.

This isn't the first time either, I've lost 4 zeros out of 3, and I think 18 Zeros out of 17. This is just the most extreme thus far encountered.

Scenario is stock South Pacific.. nothing different

If that were true then I should be down by 17 Zeros, but I had two squadrons of this type within range, one went from 27 to 22 (and 23 pilots) and one went from 15 to 9.. 5 + 6 = 11 Zeros missing.

I assume you checked the air losses detail to make sure some recon plane or patrol plane wasn't lost to a2a?

as far as I could. You can see the entire combat report with the exception of the bombing altitudes.
The attack was on Lae, which has no aircraft left on it, and the Long Range CAP was from Rabaul.

Between the plane type, the limited map area and the ranges involved, it is pretty easy to isolate the units involved.

I have one other squadron of Jakes in combat, flying recon missions, but it is at full complement of 9.
Just no connection between actual losses and listed losses for VP that I can see.

On the score board (that you posted above) click on the top right button that says 'Aircraft Losses'. Then sort the column that is today's losses and you will see all the losses. Those will match up to the amounts in the scoreboard and answer all your questions.

According to the report, 16 Zeros and a Jake. No problems with the Jake, but still wondering about the 16 Zeros out of 11.
