This was NEVER to be pure "Empires in Arms".

Then it shouldn't have been named as such simply to take people's money, IMO.

It was named EiA because it was based upon the boardgame EiA not as some sort of devious scheme to defraud people of their money. It's been two years and you still can't get over the fact that no boardgame can be directly ported without changes.

I don't think you need to respond to this thread, it just stands, and continues to stand, as a "review" of the game and so long as it continues to get updated it will continue to be just that. Now, I understand that overall it's a negative review so there's a good chance Erik will come along and lock it up.

Thank you for allowing me to fully understand the term 'wanker'. Back to the green button.

EiA/EiH/Ei-whatever, yeah, I will agree that is probably a subject due to be put to rest. It is what it is, good or bad. As for playable yet, it depends on how you define playable. It is playable with multipe backup and bugs for each year of the game played. Not as many bugs, or as bad of bugs, and the editor allows you to compensate for bugs. I guess I would have to admit it's playable, as i am playing in 3 games currently, but the never ending issues surely take away from the enjoyment of everything, which in the end is why we play these things.

as for Erik. He locked up the first thread I started on this topic. to his credit, this one has been allowed to continue on for a long while.

when I look at the posts above, some words such as credit and money are green, underlined, and have a pop-up ad for game advance that comes up when you move the mouse over them.

I personally like EiH much better than EiA.  EiA had many things that were utterly stupid just because they were a board game and wanted to minimize record keeping.  EiH, was designed for PBEM, and therefore was much heavier than EiA on book keeping.  (I remember a time when someone tried to run an EiH game face to face, and people got real bored, real fast, but there were several epic EiH PBEM games that went far.)

To me vanilla EiA is boring, and not particularly hard.  However, there were problems in both the AH and the ADG versions of the rules.  EiH tried to address some of them.  And of course, some of them didn't get incorporated in to the game.  I knew that EiANW was implmenting EiH 3, I'd have liked EiH 5, but that'd probably push development time beyond what is acceptable.

There are some people on this forum that is full of vitriol and hate, but personally, I've not run into a crash for a while now, and I play a full game every month or so.  Then again, I don't play multi-player, nor am I interested in the time involved for multi-player.

Help the game. Don't be a hater.

With respect, Neverman is helping the game. Unlike many others, he is still playing it, I am just sorry he is Turkey and I am Russia in one of them, pounding on him just does not feel right, but you have to do what you have to do sometimes!!!   as for Marshalls request............Don't hate the game or hate the player BUT hate the game hater! :-)  Don't hate the game or hate the player BUT hate the game hater! :-) Don't hate the game or hate the player BUT hate the game hater! :-) Don't hate the game or hate the player BUT hate the game hater! :-) Don't hate the game or hate the player BUT hate the game hater! :-) Don't hate the game or hate the player BUT hate the game hater! :-)  - - - - I typed it real fast, does that count?     Seriously, it is better, but still serious issues. one game had a second round of naval phases come about, but Marshall was able to assist. I would say still in ICU, but the patient is slowly improving.

Maybe, to be honest I don't think there are too many PBEM games in play atm, except for that gazfun gaming group.

Neverman, there is probably more than that. I'm in 2 games which don't have any connection to gazfun's group, and I am sure there others. I think a number of peolpe came back with 1.06.

Wow. This is a long thread.

I will just say that I really like this game. Bugs are minor, particularly when compared with some other bigger budget games I've played.

I'm also impressed with the level of engagement of the designers/coders in the forums and in response to bugs.

The EIA board game is one of the most complex board games around (multi-player, mix of diplomacy and warfare, etc.)

I think the Matrix team has done a terrific job of translating it to the computer.

My 2 cents.

Kai
