Tell you what NeverMan. You stop being insulting towards this game, towards Marshall Ellis, towards Matrix Games, and towards the rest of us who are patiently waiting to see all of the remaining issues resolved, and start restricting yourself to constructive criticisms which help move this game along, and we can stop playing Whack-A-Mole. I'm going to check off the “Attempt Informal Peace” here and see what happens.

The big kicker is that it wasn't my car she was beating up on.

Now, the a$$ who parked in my spot didn;t think it was funny either, but hey...

Well, I've been here since the beginning, before the game was even EiA, not under this screen name, but I've been here. Does that somehow mean my opinion on the subject should be considered more by the powers that be?

I know I had my hopes set to high, and while I like Mike Treasure and what he's done with EiH, with his involvement I was pretty sure what this game was becoming was not what I and probably a few many other people wanted it to be. I was disappointed when 1.0 came out, but I think it's made quite a few strides since then, and to their credit, Matrix hasn't stopped working on it. They could have kicked this project to the curb years ago, and only a very few people would have noticed.

Absolutely not, but it does mean that if I'm going to criticize your postings that I might want to take the time to read ALL of your posts before I say something to make myself look like an A$$!!!

Neverman,

I get the impression that's its the considered opinion of many that no matter what your opinion, the way you choose to express it doesn't help your case.

I've got around 3K posts on another war gaming forum, and by no means am I going to suggest that you read every single one of them before responding to a post of mine on that forum should you decide to participate over there.

By no means would I judge you based on a few posts you have made. If you wish to do so then that's your problem. Either way, I'm done with all this back and forth and attempted derailing of this thread, it would be great if this thread could get back on track... back to people giving their opinion (whether you like it or not) of this game and if it is indeed "playable".

This thread actually has a purpose?

I find it entertaining (perhaps unintentionally so) but I wouldn't have guessed it was actually a serious, constructive attempt to improve the game.

Playable is subjective.

I think its playable.  I also think it could be better, which is why I am working to help make it better when I can contribute.

Others don't think its playable, and seem to think that posting about how unplayable the game is consitutes effort in making it better.

I think they are wrong, but then that's a subjective point of view.

Absolutely not, I don't think this thread was ever intended to be that, nor is it, obviously. It was just intended to voice opinions and take a poll I believe, then again I wasn't the OP.

I will say it again...... there are threads to talk about how to improve the game, report bugs, ect...........   This was to allow those of us who were upset about the game, and those that still are, a place to vent and such with like minded people. Those that see the world as the cup half-full, well, thre are other threads.

Question:

How long do you need to vent?

Is once not enough?

Or must an opinion be expressed multiple times before people get the gist?

Answer: depends on how many times I am told not to! The real question is how many time you feel you have to post to this thread telling us not to. Actually, I do think it's playable, but until Matrix shuts this down, I am going to continue expressing my opinion on this thread, as well as others.

It's unfortunate that this thread has derailed from it's original intention and a lot of the VERY GOOD content of this thread has been lost between the bad posts. This thread could have served as a place for newcomers to read about the game and see what people think.

I think that Thresh and Pzngdr and the others have accomplished their goal... .the hijacking and derailing of this thread. Well done you guys!

I guess there will have to be a "Is this game playable III"!?

As if newcomers really need a thread dominated by such negative thinking. "Do not buy this game." "This game will never be playable." Yeah, that's really helpful.

Despite all of the insulting remarks about the game and its design and its marketing, we continue to see newcomers buying the game, playing the game, and enjoying the game to the current extent possible. There continues to be optimism for the future planned improvements and enhancements. The negative comments should eventually fade into irrelevancy, hopefully sooner rather than later.

I guess Attempt Informal Peace failed this Diplomacy Phase. Tsk Tsk.

Well Borner, that strikes me as they type of behavior most people grow out of by the time they turn six, plus or minus a couple...

Honestly, if you, Neverman and others think that just posting your opinions, repeatedly, is going to work, by all means don't stop. However, please don't change tactics to holding your breath, throwing yourself to the floor and kicking until you get your way, because I am pretty sure you'll pass out.

:-)

Refuting and/or disagreeing with your point of view with a differing opinion is threadjacking?

Whats the web coming to these days...

Frankly I think the new thread should be titled "Thread for Those whom the Matrix PC version of EiA will Never (or Darn Near Close to Never) Satisfy".

Playable III? (or Son of Playable?, or Battle for the Planet of Playable?) is just false advertising.

One sees the thread, sees 150+ replies, things, "Yegods, the game must be the worst game since wargames came out on PC".

Then you log on and the "5 Balding, Mom's basement guys"- factor in the thread becomes apparant. That and the "Psycho 4 AM Girl Logic"-Factor as well.

Pzgndr - Newcomers need opinions. It's their money and they should have a right to know what they are buying with their $70... or do you disagree with that?

Thresh - again with the insults, nice, really showing your age. You are not disagreeing with my point of view on the game in this thread, you are insulting me constantly in an attempt to hijack and derail this thread.

Turtleton - Maybe this is the worst PC wargame ever!! If not, it's got to be the worst adaptation of a wargame to PC. Is there an award for that? Other than that, your post was actually funny.

I would recommend they read my game review at Wargamer.com, read other game reviews, read the other forum threads with real discussion going on, and make up their own mind. I am not going to presume to tell others what they should do or what game they should play or how they should play it. You, however, have very much the My-Way-Or-The-Highway attitude and act as some sort of self-appointed Walmart greeter of doom and gloom here.

Speaking of what to do with one's money, you have been no newcomer to the Matrix forums. You knew EXACTLY what the game development was looking like and you knew EXACTLY what the situation was when the game was released, warts and all. One must wonder why you would be so stupid to spend money on something you knew for a fact was not what you wanted and would be very long if ever in getting to what you wanted, and then spend over a year complaining about it. There's more than just your "opinion" going on here. There's downright hostility towards the design decisions that went into the game and the blasphemous fact that Matrix Games would market such a game contrary to your desires. Poor you! And you just will not let go of that!!! And all for a $70 toy. Or do you disagree with that??

You've obviously never seen AH's attempted port of Civil War to the computer.

As for insulting, lets see:
quote:

This thread is pointless.
Matrix really doesn't care, that's the bottom line.
I will not playtest for this horrible company or report any bugs I find or give any feedback in any way simply because I don't believe that this company listens.
Actually, only your post is pointless.
I also disagree that no matter what Matrix does some people won't be happy. This is just lazy thinking, IMO. If Matrix could fix this game so that it was EiA and THEN add all the extras as options I think that could make everyone happy. NOW, the fact that Matrix has gotten so far into this game and refuse to do this is another story altogether.
This game is not playable because it's simply too easy to cheat in this game.
ps. Stop calling this thing EiA please, it's just not right.
This game is NOT playable, at least not in any enjoyable manner. It's slow slow slow and still buggy buggy buggy.
I have stopped joining or starting games and am eagerly waiting for the last game I am in to die (probably from some bug).
I'm sure I will get all kinds of crap for this but whatever. BUYER BEWARE!!!
For all those complaining about my posts, why don't you take your OWN advice and STOP READING THIS THREAD THEN!!!! WOW, what a concept!!
Fasicst pigs!!

Pot, I have a collect call from Kettle...

Look familiar?  And that's just from this thread. Many of us don;t find those comments to be helpful, or constructive.  Although I must admit the fascist pig part did make me smile some, a flashback to my college dyas when the professor couldn't refute me unless she lowered herself to name calling those who didn't agree with her...anyways...

I've had said before that the game has its problems and issues and I am doing what I can to help resolve them.

What are you  doing other than posting?  By your own admission: NOTHING! Its allright there, in 1's and 0's.

You obviously don't care.
Wait, I take that back.  You care enough to complain and then do little else.  Despite the fact that others, including Matrix, have refuted many of your claims (mostly by continuing to enjoy playing the game and working to fix it so its better product), they are all wrong, and you alone stand in the right.  You hate this game so much rather than kill any game your in by leaving, your going to avoidthe responsibility and let something or someone else kill it for you.  Thats, well, IMO thats not exactly admirable or standup.  YMMV...

You want a better game, help those of us wanting a better game work towards one.  If your idea of help is complaining from the sidelines and refusing to otherwise get involved, then your going to get ignored eventually by those of us actually expending more effort than is required by complaining to accomplish something.

Hopefully there is a higher purpose being served with all this silly nonsense. On the one hand folks can see a large number of passionate and enthusiastic players who actually support the game and are playing the game, despite the acknowledged shortcomings, and remain steadfastly optimistic that the remaining issues will be resolved and the game will be great. On the other hand folks can see a few disgruntled outliers with a chip on their shoulders. In the great scheme of things, it should be apparent even to newcomers who the winners are and who the losers are in these altercations.

What is amazing is why the losing side keeps coming back to get their butt whooped again and again, like Prussian landwehr repeatedly assaulting the French Old Guard, uphill and in the mud. Too funny!

Both sides have been insulting. Maybe we all should stop that...

I know you have given tons of constructive criticism. Thanks. That has helped.

I have only been here since 2006. OH well. I still like the game (board and computer) and want to make it better. Do you want it to be better?

In my opinion, the game is playable, but not perfect. You may say that it is not playable. That's ok. Disagreement is fine.

Please, continue with your constructive criticism. It helps to make the game better (for me).

Jason

That's fair yes, but being insulting is not, which pzndgr has been time and time again.

On top of that, I have given TONS of constructive criticism to this game over the last FOUR YEARS, which most of you weren't even here for, so I'm not sure where that comes from but whatever.

THIS thread is about whether the game is playable and I STILL don't think it is. Everytime a new version comes out I am going to post here.
