It appears that the Germans put those assault craft left over from Sea Lion to good use!

I thought that maybe I should try something daring to break up the logjam at the riverbank. And the paratroopers were busy elsewhere so fortunately there was a port left open by my opponent and the chance for an invasion just happened to present itself. I'm not sure what Sea Lion is but it sounds good.

Also in the deep south I employed the FJ paratroopers to back up my plans to liquidate the front lines quickly. And it worked so well that it was one of those semi-magic tricks....now you see it ( the Soviet line of units ), and now you don't:

Turn 15 ended in a early turn ending so I didn't have a chance to re-set all the bombers from combat support to interdiction missions like I usually do. So the Soviets are going to get another turn without interdiction. This has happened only once before earlier so I guess I can't complain all that much. Here is the list of aircraft, their locations, missions, and current strength: [ the four at the bottom, on rest missions, are Turkish aircraft and they have never been used. They give an indication of the strength of brand new aircraft so you can compare that with the current strength of the planes I've been flying since the game began ]

I usually like to attack a Soviet stack first with a throw-away unit to get it to unentrench.....sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, but at least on those times where it works it's pretty cool. Attacking an unentrenched Soviet unit is less costly than attacking a Soviet unit dug-in and when you have more than one combat round it's at least worth a try. I've been using my AT guns for the first attack attempt as you can see from this picture of the PJ status....the are all in the red or at least yellow:

I've been in the habit of resting my arty units when they get down to about 39% supply or so. Sometimes the combat situation calls for arty fire reguardless of supply situation but most of the time I can afford to rest them. Here's a report on the status of the arty units so far:

I believe the Axis forces destroyed 37 Soviet units in turn 16: 27 INF types, 2 Armoured Divisions, 5 Guns, and 3 naval units. Here's the Axis losses so far:

I thought my last attack had killed the partisan and was in the process of pulling my troops back to the roads for better supply and the Soviet dude got a disengagement shot at my security unit and I realized that I had left a surviving partisan in the hex. Drats.

I believe that the Axis forces destroyed 15 Soviet units in turn 17: 13 infantry types, and 2 gun units. Nothing changed in the Odessa area so I didn't show that close-up. Here's the Axis losses so far:

I'm loosing over 1,000 HRS's per turn and have only 928 on hand now so I expect the strength of the Axis army will start to decrease from here on if the intensity of the battle continues as it has in the past.  On the bright side, I'm at the doorstep to the production cities Odessa, Smolensk, Dnepretovsk, and Zaporoste ( or however you spell it ) so the Soviet production can be expected to decrease by about 5% with each one I capture.  Which I expect I can do within about 5 turns or so now.  Perhaps.  Plus Leningrad may fall within about 20 turns or so.  Maybe.

I have outrun my logistics and the supply isn't as grand as it could be at several points in the front line.  I've had to hold back lots of my lower-supplied units because I want them fully rested when they arrive at the front.

My invasions near Leningrad has taught my opponent to guard ports near Sevestapol I noticed.  He's a quick study, that Curt.
