7 x Swordfish bombing at 5000 feet
3 x Wellington III bombing at 6000 feet
7 x Swordfish bombing at 5000 feet
6 x Hurricane IIb bombing at 2000 feet

we are running into a problem! the enemy is coming in low -> as low as it would be a stock campaign <- and what happens? He takes no losses... flak fire is just pathetic even though there should be enough flak to seriously harm those low flying bombers. Alone the 16x4,7 DP guns from the big base force there should put up some nice flak fire, Iīm not sure if the enemy bombers are flying too low for the flak guns, it seems only a couple of 25 mm and 13 mm guns are firing. Thought this isnīt possible in the flak fanboy mod?

As it stands now, this is a serious problem...

yes, the whole army in India is not adequately supplied, which means I can not fight an ongoing ground war at the moment. But all my units are fully supplied, as well as Yanam which has 2000 requested supply at the moment, with 8000 supply being at the base. Supply canīt be an issue for the flak defense at Yanam. Must have been a bad day I guess. We will see, Iīm sure Miller will keep up his attacks now.

I have ordered 3 flak btn back into the base, they should arrive there within the next two days. Hopefully it will be more painful for him to bomb the base. I want the baseīs airfield operational when my TFs arrive.

there must be supply at the base and not with the units for the AA to work all the time ( at least this is it like for me in my games)

but there is supply AT THE BASE! As well as my units are fully supplied. The base has four times the needed supply at the moment.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/31/42

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack near Kiska Island at 92,35

Japanese Ships
AP Tasmania Maru, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage

Allied Ships
SS S-42

damn, Iīm a dork! This sub has been sitting there for two weeks now and Iīve sent a convoy there to pick up one of my units. Thought I could be lucky, of course I wasnīt. The medium AP is sunk. Wonder if it makes any difference in the game if a sub has been spotted. I knew the sub was there, the game didnīt I guess...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Yanam , at 22,21

Allied aircraft
Swordfish x 19
Hurricane IIb x 51
Blenheim IV x 5
Wellington III x 62
Beaufort I x 6

Allied aircraft losses
Swordfish: 1 damaged
Hurricane IIb: 2 destroyed, 6 damaged
Wellington III: 7 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
110 casualties reported

Airbase hits 8
Airbase supply hits 2
Runway hits 78

Aircraft Attacking:
7 x Swordfish bombing at 5000 feet
13 x Hurricane IIb bombing at 2000 feet
3 x Wellington III bombing at 6000 feet

the fragile Swordfish that was damaged by flak crashed on the way home. Today, three ac were claimed by our flak guns but not really a lot of the bombers damaged. I need A LOT of bombers damaged in one turn to see their morale being hit hard, which would be great when my carriers show up again. Perhaps Millerīs bomber get a nasty surprise tomorrow as today the three mentioned AA units entered Yanam again (two rgt and a btn). So our invasion hex has the AA defense it should have again. Was a mistake of mine to move the AA units out and to rely on my fighters. Iīve thought that Miller wouldnīt attack anyway.

D3A Val x 24
G4M1 Betty x 25
Ki-27 Nate x 47
Ki-43-Ic Oscar x 150
Ki-46-II Dinah x 3

No Japanese losses

Allied ground losses:
30 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Aircraft Attacking:
10 x Ki-43-Ic Oscar bombing at 2000 feet

Ground combat at Sian

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 14165 troops, 450 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 3511

Defending force 107863 troops, 615 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 3132

Allied ground losses:
257 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

there are three more Chinese units on the way to Sian, arriving within the next days. This will probably bring the assault value of the defender up to 3800-4000 which would be the strongest defensive position of the enemy that we have attacked so far. I guess we will concentrate on cutting the base off for now and then starve them with a deliberate attack now and then. I donīt know if Sian gets any auto supply, wouldnīt be good as the auto supply isnīt stopped by enemy troops in the hex.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Cotabato

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 15319 troops, 180 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 326

Defending force 0 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 0

Japanese max assault: 246 - adjusted assault: 470

Allied max defense: 0 - adjusted defense: 1

Japanese assault odds: 470 to 1 (fort level 0)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Cotabato base !!!

our bgd that is moving on Davao took an empty base...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Myitkyina

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 8295 troops, 287 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 2950

Defending force 41345 troops, 322 guns, 250 vehicles, Assault Value = 735

Allied ground losses:
86 casualties reported
Guns lost 2

I guess the Allied troops at Myityina really have supply issues, which makes it even harder to understand for me why he hasnīt ordered those troops to move back to India when he already knows that I have 5.000 assault value there. The enemy troops in the Calcutta area are still NOT moving towards the invasion area - another thing I donīt understand at all. Is he fearing my second wave that could land near Diamond Harbour?

still a lot of empty bases to mop up...

3 x Wellington III bombing at 6000 feet
10 x Swordfish bombing at 5000 feet
3 x Wellington III bombing at 6000 feet

itīs obvious that the three AA units do make a difference! I guess Miller now has to think about bombing my base that low. We have some 140 engineers at the base but itīs now inoperational. AF damage at 90 and base at 66. Just give me two days without bombing and the airfield is ready for 5 Zero daitais again. My TFs are 5 or 6 days out at the moment.

The first attack on my base included more than 80 Wellingtons, I guess there wonīt be more than 40 operational tomorrow. And I also hope that their moral is pretty bad already. But again Iīm wondering if all my weapons are firing at those low flying aircraft. Same number of Hurricanes and Wellingtons but the Wellingtons took far more damage at 6000ft than the Hurricanes did at 2000ft.

11 ac shot down by flak is a good result to begin with!

Japanese forces CAPTURE Emirau Island base !!!

Miller stopped his air attacks on Yanam, either because he thinks my AA is too strong or, which I think, that he prepares for attacks on my shipping which was spotted going all the way towards Yanam. The TFs are now 8-10 hexes South of Yanam. 8-10 because once again my TFs got separated, even though all transport TFs are following the slowest moving TF...

Miller flew LRCAP over Yanam today, engaging a couple of Tina transports that are flying in construction btn to get Yanamīs airfields back into 100% operational state again. Only one Tina was lost to ops out of 48 flying. With my ships so near to Madras already I expect Miller to set all his bombers on nav attack and all his fighters/fighter bomber on escort tomorrow.

Tomorrow I will tangle with some PTs at Madras, ordered 6 DDs to move in flank speed, hopefully sinking all four of them. They are the remnants of the Royal Navy in India.

Miller told me that it would make no sense to have the RN in India as I would just sink them, IMO they would be very valuable as I wonīt go near Ceylon to deal with 400 British aircraft and he could really make it a mess when my CVs are away to cover Yanam which is still the only base I own to land some troops and the even more important supply. Lesson learnt: never send the Royal Navy into the Pacific when you canīt be sure that the Japanese isnīt invading India!

Wow, a 5.4:1 advantage, without even taking India.  All those lost army points !

A few questions for you.
Could you put a summary of the situation on the occasion ?  Or even a big map with the frontline ?  I'm a bit at a loss regarding where you stand now (following and reading too many AARs lately).  I know you're besieging Manilla, mopping up DEI isolated bases, landed a brigade on Mindanao lately.  You're bombing PM IIRC, but did you take Gili-Gili ?  Where did you stop in the South Pacific (New Caledonia, Fiji) ?
I remember Canton Island and nearby bases are well in your hand now, any plans to go for the Line Islands in the near future ?

***

Well, in regards to India, if he kept the RN nearby, wouldn't you bring some G4M daitais ?  The result would soon be the same : no RN left, or no RN ship daring to intervene.
At least, he's not simply moving his aircraft to China, he's using them.

Do you have enough supply in this second wave, now ?  And do you have enough supply in the rear area to bring in the next trip ?

***

Do you already have any idea of when you'll assault Manilla ?  You've been bombing the crap out of it for the last few months (four ?  five ?), and given the lack of flak their supply situation must be critically ... empty.

Nice work, by the way.

Nice work, by the way.

See the map in the next post.

Iīm besieging Manila and I will NOT attack there! I will just starve them to death and I can tell you, they are starving! As mentioned earlier, the enemy loses 10 points for ground losses every turn, the majority must be from the siege of Manila. I now have some 300+ assault points there, I guess 150 would be sufficient to keep the enemy in place. Manila is just a big prison camp for 50.000 Allied troops. No sense attacking there, with the urban bonus I would still need 2-3 divs to take the base at acceptable losses even if the enemy is out of supply. But, I just donīt have to take that base, no need to! One other thing to remember: Miller used subs - and is still using them - to bring out fragments of those units at Manila to rebuild them as soon as they die there. So, the sooner I kill those troops off there, the sooner he can begin to rebuild them in Australia!

Iīm boming PM, the base is no threat, I canīt see much of a chance that it will become a threat within the next 6-12 months. I have take Gili Gili and built it up, together with Lae I can place some 600 aicraft next to PM, so please come and try to reinforce PM without a strong carrier cover!

The reason Iīve landed the bgd on Mindanoa were the ongoing attempts of Miller to place bombers at Davao where he has four units at the moment, probably 3 base forces and an understrenght PA division. I want to clear the island of the enemy bomber "threat" and the bgd is one of my "spare" bgds anyway.

As you can see in the next screenshot, I did stop North of New Zealand! First Iīve thought about attacking New Zealand and Northern Australia to get rid of the danger of an assault on the SRA out of Australia, with the loss of 2 US CVs (better say 3 as the third one surely needs 6 months of repairs!) and the RN in the Pacific I decided to go for India instead as you already know. If I will be able to crush the British in India I can use a lot of divisions to prepare my defensive positions which will be needed from mid 43 on. At least thatīs what I guess, attacking earlier big style would probably cause again losses to the Allied CV force which they canīt sustain. Losing one, two or three carriers in mid-late 44 is not that a tragedy for the Allied, losing them 42 or 43 is near a tragedy!

India: no I donīt think that Nells and Betties would sink the Royal Navy, at least not during the first weeks of the invasion as there is just no base to put them onto. At the moment thereīs only Yanam, which is a level 3 airfield (built up from 1) and Betties donīt carry torps from a level 3 airfield. But that is not the major factor, the problem is that if Miller would go ahead he could have easily put my airfield there out of action, ongoing attacks on the airfield (from higher alt than 6.000ft) would have even made it impossible to build it up! Miller once again missed a chance to cause me trouble. So far, the defense of India is far worse than I would have expected it. He attacked my invasion force - too late - then noticed that he could harm my carriers (put a bomb into Zuikaku that caused 36 sys dam in the end and a torp into a BB that caused 25 sys dam - both ships have nearly arrived in Japan for repairs) but that was already too late as he attacked when my ships were already ordered to retreat. Then he switched over to attacks on Yanam, again too late and stopped it as soon as I increased the flak defense again and when my ships showed up 720 miles off the coast. More info on that matter in the next combat reports.

There would be no sense to move his British aircraft to China as thereīs no base in China I canīt bomb to dust with the IJAAF. If he wants to have them secure, he could move his aircraft to Karachi or Bombay or somewhere else inland of India.

I guess the supply that comes in with the second wave should be sufficient for the ongoing assault on the area around Madras, the ships carry another 70.000 supplies. Iīm already loading every ton of spare supplies in Burma onto small AKs so that I can bring them in as soon as my second wave has returned to Rangoon, I hope to bring another 70.000 supplies then. Which means I have brought some 210-220.000 tons of supplies to India! This is more than 10% of the available supply on the map and surely not something easily to do! The opposite is true, this offensive will bleed my supply depots dry if I wonīt be able to take an enemy base with huge supply depots. In the past I always have been able to take a base like Bombay with 300 or 400.000 supplies and fuel which fed my further assaults, but one thing is for sure, without that, supply can be a major factor that will prevent my troops from moving on. Time of course is also a factor.

And hereīs the strategic map. I donīt intend to extend my positions further into the Pacific, major operations are of course planned for India, which is the primary task for nearly the whole IJN and big parts of the IJA and China, which means that I intend to take the North of China, reducing the enemy to the central parts of China without much supply to mount a counter attack, even though there would be more than enough troops.

We will see how those two operations will go, if both will work like planned, then the IJA divs in India will be used to garrison the subcontinent and to strenghten our defense of the SRA towards Australia. I wonīt use major IJA units to garrison outer line of atolls in the Pacific, this will be the task of IJN units. As soon as the outer line falls, the enemy will meet major IJA units on the inner line of defense.

If China is knocked out, I could also think about an attack on Russia to take pressure off our German Ally if Germany decides to attack Russia!

Re Russia : your first post does not mention it, but did you agree on a two-week notice before an invasion of Siberia ? I've seen it as a common HR, due to the bad initial deployment of soviet units.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/03/42

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Night Time Surface Combat, near Madras at 18,21

Japanese Ships
DD Uzuki
DD Satsuki
DD Minazuki
DD Kikuzuki
DD Mikazuki
DD Yuzuki

Allied Ships
PT PT-36
PT PT-37
PT PT-38, Shell hits 4, and is sunk
PT PT-40

Hereīs the Royal Navy, defending the most important part of India! Seriously, I do see those four PTs as a major threat to my ships. They of coures wonīt sink KB and all my BBs in the area, but they can put a torpedo into one of my BB/CA that tries to bombard a base, will slow the ship down and put the whole TF into torpedo carrying swordfish range that then sinks a cruiser or two or even some BBs... been there, done that...

and in fact, this encounters started as bad as it could be, my TF was surprised by the enemy! With complete luck on my side, three of the four PTs fired their torps but missed! Phewww! In return, only one was sunk after the surprise phase. I hate the buggers, normally I trade a DD sunk and one or two damaged for one TF of 6 PTs destroyed...

we want to clear the way for a cruiser TF that is going in next turn to do a bombardment. All my TFs are spotted so I guess Miller will be smart enough to figure out that this TF six hexes away from Madras is a bombardement TF and there probably wonīt be any aircraft at Madras and thatīs ok with me. No aircraft there, no attacks on my ships!

Japanese Ships

AP Yamakuni Maru

Aircraft Attacking:
1 x Wellington III bombing at 6000 feet

this is a strike into KBīs hex and when the strike came in from Madras I was sure it would be targetting my carriers. In the end it turned out we were again lucky (must be my lucky weeks at the moment!) and this strike went after a troop transport TF. At the beginning of my invasion weeks ago, Miller missed the right time to attack my ships and he was too late. Well, this time, when my second wave goes in, he is too EARLY! I knew that his Hurricanes have only a range of 5 hexes so Iīve placed my TFs six and seven hexes away from Madras on their way to Yanam and the first strike from Madras comes in from S E V E N hexes, without Hurricanes, only with a couple of AVG Tomahawks that were very low on morale and turned around quickly! So my plan worked, I would have suggested Miller to set all his bombers to nav attack 5 hexes, Iīm glad he didnīt!

What was also impressing is the number of Zeroes on Cap, another bit of my plan seemed to work as I switched out my carriers within KB. Iīve replaced some big fleet carriers with smaller ones as this brings me more fighters in total as the small carriers nearly carry as many Zeroes but no Vals and I canīt put all my carriers into one hex due to our stacking rule. This was the best way I was able to think about to give my ships some aircover and it seemed to work. And still, pass after pass on the enemy bombers, they refused to go down and the longer the engagement lasted, the more I became nervous! The bombers had still a pretty good morale and it took dozens of attacks until I saw them slowly turning back. The Allied bomber attacks on Yanam earlier are the major factor here, without those attacks I guess two dozen more bombers would have broke through my Cap. In the end, only 6 bombers release their bombs over some transports but all miss. YES! At this point I was pretty sure the reinforcement of my India adventure will become a success as those bomber squadrons wonīt be able to fly concentrated attacks in the next days.

Want to point out again how well the mod works! Imagine stock, those 168 Zeroes would have shot down EVERY attacking bomber, here there isnīt even a dozen shot down. Perhaps a tad too few but I prefer a tad too few than 5 times too many.

my Cap got tired and every attack more will become more dangerous. Glad that the strikes are very small but a lucky bomber could still manage to put a bomb into one of my carriers so we have to be carefully... All bombers turn back or are shot down...

I didnīt mention an attack on Russia so far (as I donīt want him to plan for it) but I will grant Miller 4 weeks time to redeploy his ground forces if I will decide to attack. But thatīs not sure at all. If I will attack, then I will fly major air attacks on his airforce during the first days of activation as he can move his aircraft around already. I wonīt start a ground offensive for the first 4 weeks though.

I thought this would be interesting also, here are the IJNīs "major" naval losses. I have left out the merchants.

guess thatīs not bad for 6/42. Without the two times when the Allied carriers suddenly showed up near my bases to sink nearly 30 merchants I would nearly have no ship losses. But the losses to warships are great so far!

And here are the Alliedīs ship losses:

My former opponent bigbaba lost POW and Repulse near Singapore, Miller was responsible for the loss of Saratoga and Enterprise with Lexington heavily damaged. Only four cruisers lost and a couple of DDs. Important also is the confirmed loss of 35 subs. Otherwise there were no extraordinary losses, nearly no escapes from the SRA. Without the carrier losses, the Allied Navy would be in excellent shape and pretty dangerous. As it stands now, more or less only my floating atoll-CVs that carry dozens of Betties are the only really dangerous factors in the Pacific. But this will begin to change with every Allied CV that will be comissioned.

As expected, Miller moved out his aircraft and we hit an empty base. We do some nice damage within the enemyīs base forces but thatīs it. Would like to see far more hits on the airfield to close the airfield once and for all. The plan now is to keep Madrasī airfield closed until we take the base! We canīt rely on our cruisers and battleships for that task though as there is no chance to replenish them nearby and they have to go the long way back to Rangoon to refuel and rearm.

all enemy reinforcements have arrived at Sian now. Amazingly enough, that once again Miller orders all his troops to move into the base instead of trying to prevent my from encircling the city! We have already 1300 assault points moved up from Ichang to the wooden and mountaineous roads to the West of Sian. This means reinforcements from Chungking would have to fight their way to Sian. We are also moving a couple of div/bgd into the open terrain hexes East and North of the base to block reinforcments from the North. I like moving ground warfare, Miller is no fan of it!

Iīve flown in around 100 medium bombers to fly constant attacks on Madrasī airfield from now on. Raid is coming from Yanam of course. Level 3 so the bombers are coming in with a reduced bomb load, therefore we have to live with a rather low hit rate. Attacking from 16.000 ft doesnīt help the hit rate either, but going in lower would be suicide as there are 12 reported units at Madras now. 12 units could mean trouble, even though we get recon of only some 20.000 enemy troops there. I gues we will mostly face support troops but the urban bonus... you know...

perhaps we wonīt be able to take the base at acceptable losses, Iīm already planning for an alternative scenario. We need a big port in India! Or at least a base where I could build up a level 5 port+

This means that the airfield is closed now. But in three or four turns KB will set sail home again as my TFs are all unloading at Yanam at the moment. Then we will have to rely on our medium bombers at Yanam. I guess we need at least 50 hits on the airfield each turn to keep the field closed... Allied eng vehicles repair those fields pretty fast... and if the airfield gets operational again, the enemy could counterstrike with a raid on Yanam and close the field there. Good thing at the moment is the fact that my TK rgts, a div and a special base force are moving on Hyderabad (level 3 airfield to be built up to 6) to the North of Madras. As soon as we have a level 4 airfield there we will be able to surpress Madras with LBA I guess... more aviation units are unloading with this second wave of troops at the momen...

Hereīs another intel screen that could be of interest, the aircraft production of the Japanese Empire. Weīve got the ability to produce some 824 aircraft of different types, focussing on the two fighter types A6M2 Zero and Ki-43-Ic Oscar. We do have enough ac in the pool of both types as well as of every other ac needed. At the moment we have shut down some 185 factories, which means we are currently producing a bit more than 600 aircraft each month in total. At this rate we would build some 7000+ aircraft which would be less than were built in reality in Japan in 1942 according to I-net sources that show 8,861 Japanese aircraft built.

Of course we have streamlined production and the appearance of the Tojo which is still 11/42 will increase total production a bit. But by then we will have completely stopped producing the Oscar. I guess we wonīt produce more than 8.000 aircraft this year, so about 10% less than were produced in reality. Iīm happy about that as this at least doesnīt mean Iīm building numbers of aircraft that are totally off.

1939 1940 1941 1942 1943 1944 1945

UK
7,940 15,049 20,094 23,672 26,263 26,461 12,070
US
2,141 6,086 19,433 47,836 85,898 96,318 46,001
USSR
10,382 10,565 15,735 25,436 34,900 40,300 20,900
Germany
8,295 10,826 12,401 15,409 24,807 40,593 7,540
Japan
4,467 4,768 5,088 8,861 16,693 28,180 8,263

it really sucks that I canīt get a table to be shown as it should be...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/08/42

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Madras , at 18,21

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-21 Sally: 1 damaged

Airbase hits 1
Runway hits 8

Aircraft Attacking:
4 x Ki-21 Sally bombing at 21000 feet

we only get 55 bombers to attack, thatīs roughly 50% of the bombers at Yanam. Weīve got too many damaged bombers there and with those small numbers we canīt achieve much from that height with reduced bomb loads. Yanam is level 3 (39%) and itīs increasing by 7% each turn at the moment. We will take Hyderabad within the next three days I guess, this will give us another level 3(3) airfield, hopefully we will have it up to level 4 soon. To speed up the construction of the airfield at Hyderabad I will fly some Tabbies to Yanam to airlift eng rgts from Yanam to Hyderabad. Otherwise it takes two weeks to march there.

without KB in the area we wouldnīt be able to keep Madrasī airfields surpressed at all. Unfortunately KB will have to leave within the next couple of days due to being low on fuel. In the meantime we hopefully will have seized Hyderabad, half of the assault forces have arrived there today, the rest will follow tomorrow. In two days we will order a shock attack with some 1300 assault points which will probably take the base. At the moment we spot three Allied units defending Hyderabad. Open terrain, probably not many forts.

Miller now is killing off his troops, he probably wants to get rid of them to start rebuilding a lot of them somewhere in Australia. Here you can see why I think itīs not worth attacking Manila at all if there are more than 200 assault points at the base when you arrive as you will just wear down your troops and thatīs not worth it IMO. As soon the Allied are reduced to Manila in your assault, just put a couple of second class units (NLF, SNLF, all those small Navy units) there to keep the Allied in place and move out your divs in good shape to attack another target. After six months of starving, the Allied assault value has completely melted away! I have ordered 200 assault points to move out to Bataan today to be shipped somewhere in the Pacific to garrison one of my bases of the second line of defense. Manila will be further be seen as a POW-camp!

our last surface combat TF in the area went in to bombard the base, Iīm not really satisfied with the result as this was quite a force. And the CD at Madras seems to be far from knocked out as it landed a penetrating hit on CL Oi! I forgot to take Oi and Kitakami out of the TF before sending them to bombard the enemy stronghold. I had the light cruisers included in this TF as this was my primary surface combat TF and I wanted those torpedo carrying CLs launching their loads at an enemy surface combat TF if it would show up. Other than the 4 PTs that sunk one of my DDs nothing showed up though.

another try to kill off his own troops! even one of my small NLF units would be enough to hold the base now... I will keep those troops here though as this seems more realistic to hold back those Allied troops...

this is the last attack from KBīs bombers, the carriers are retiring to Rangoon to replenish. Hopefully we will only need them to escort supply convoys to India (if we donīt capture enough supplies ). The ongoing fight of 5.000 av would be really hard to supply if we donīt seize any supplies. Fuel is also a big issue, we donīt have enough fuel to keep the whole IJN supplied at Rangoon. Iīm bringing in a lot and keep it on the ships and unload them slowly when my TFs return as otherwise all the fuel is transferred out again by the smart AI. When all my TFs have returned to Rangoon they will have sucked up some 150.000 fuel!!!

At the moment Iīm using my TKs and AKs to bring oil and resources to Japan and on the way back to Singapore they are carrying fuel.

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

BANZAI! BANZAI! BANZAI!

This is a VERY important happening! Not just that we were able to capture the so important second airfield in India we also have forced two Indian divisions, a UK bgd and an Indian base force to retreat South! The enemy has lost 129 points for ground losses today so those units really took a beating! This was the perfect terrain for my tanks and the enemy simply got overrun it seems. The TK rgts are in very good shape but only have 25% of the supplies needed at the moment, the inf div that also took part in the battle for Hyderabad got shot up and suffered 10% of the troops disabled. My TK rgts were set to shock attack / pursue and are now sitting with the retreating Allied units one hex South West on the rail. They will shock attack again tomorrow even though they are far from being optimal supplied. The Allied units should have lost 100% of their supply due to the retreat and should also have a very high disruption. I expect to kick them further back. Iīm having a hr for myself of only using TK rgt/div to shock attack/PURSUE, all other units are not allowed to pursue.

Unfortunately the base only shows some 3500 supplies so we havenīt captured a lot of supplies here. Tabbies have transferred to Yanam flying an eng rgt to Hyderabad tomorrow to start building up the airfield. The division is 100% prepped for Hyderabad and will take position here for r&r and to hold back any Allied counteroffensive-attempts. We have a special base force here already and the bombers from Yanam transferred to this base already. A Zero daitai and a Helen sentai was transferred from Burma to Yanam.

This was an important victory and if we can force those Allied inf units to retreat a couple of times this will totally wreck them and should be a hard blow for the Allied defense of India.

At Madras we have spotted 13 units with over 30.000 troops already, could be a hard nut to crack and perhaps we will just siege the base.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/12/42

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Madras , at 18,21

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 49

Aircraft Attacking:
11 x Ki-49 Helen bombing at 21000 feet

As both Hyderabad and Yanam are four hexes from Madras we get combined strikes out of both bases now. We get over 100 bombers over the enemy base but only achieve an awful hit rate... going in lower is no option I fear as flak is too heavy at Madras, hopefully hit rate will get better when we launch from level 4 airfield in 7-14 days... if Madras gets operational again this could mean trouble. 3000 assault points should enter the town within the next four days.

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

yes! The enemy forces that were forced to retreat out of Hyderabad are again hit hard even though our adjusted av was horrible. But so was the enemyīs adjusted av, probably both sides were hit due to being nearly or totally out of supply. Our troops got supplies at the end of this turn though and the tanks are now sitting with the four enemy troops one hex further South. Shock attack tomorrow, then the enemy will retreat into a mountaineous hex East of Bangalore. Iīm thinking about dropping a para rgt into Bangalore, the one that took Yanam at the beginning of our invasion. The paras are still sitting there, 100% combat ready.

Iīm not sure yet as this could then mean that the enemy troops will have to retreat into the mountains North of Madras and Iīm not sure I like that. I would preferre to kill them off at a base they canīt further retreat.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/13/42

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naval bombardment of Madras, at 18,21 - Coastal Guns Fire Back!

14 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.
Japanese Ships
CA Myoko
CA Chokai
CA Maya, Shell hits 2
CA Takao

Allied ground losses:
566 casualties reported
Guns lost 9
Vehicles lost 4

Runway hits 9
Port hits 4
Port supply hits 2

CD still fires back and we seem to hit less with every attack. Can only hope this is due to the enemy units (support units) are becoming more and more disabled. When looking at the flak fire they put up then I canīt confirm that...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Chengtu , at 41,29

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 27
Ki-21 Sally x 86
Ki-49 Helen x 72

Allied aircraft
no flights

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-21 Sally: 2 destroyed, 12 damaged
Ki-49 Helen: 5 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
SB-2c: 2 destroyed
I-153c: 1 destroyed

Allied ground losses:
19 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Airbase hits 5
Airbase supply hits 5
Runway hits 35

Aircraft Attacking:
20 x Ki-49 Helen bombing at 11000 feet

we have spotted over 100 enemy aircraft at Chengtu recently and decided to hit the base at max range. Unfortunately we donīt torch as many ac on the ground as we have thought and we lose 4 bombers in this attack...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Madras , at 18,21

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 54
Ki-21 Sally x 28
Ki-49 Helen x 69

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-21 Sally: 1 damaged
Ki-49 Helen: 1 destroyed, 5 damaged

Runway hits 3

Aircraft Attacking:
15 x Ki-49 Helen bombing at 21000 feet

hit rate stays horrible, I could halt those attacks as they donīt seem to make any sense... attacking at 16.000 ft would result in my bomber sentais being 50%+ damaged though...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Manila , at 43,52

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

there wonīt be much left of those units when my tanks are ordered to focus on another target... the tanks are fully supplied and we get excellent adjusted av... with every attack, the enemy loses (disabled/destroyed) some 5.000 troops I guess...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Sian

Japanese Bombardment attack

Defending force 126395 troops, 849 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 3780
