Interesting developments... AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/10/42 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TF 92 encounters mine field at Hong Kong (43,42) Japanese Ships MSW Choun Maru #21 MSW Choun Maru #8 MSW Choun Maru #7 MSW Choun Maru #6 MSW Banshu Maru #56 MSW Banshu Maru #52 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on Singapore , at 23,50 Japanese aircraft Ki-43-Ic Oscar x 36 Ki-21 Sally x 143 Japanese aircraft losses Ki-21 Sally: 5 damaged Allied ground losses: 190 casualties reported Guns lost 3 Airbase hits 1 Runway hits 26 Aircraft Attacking: 18 x Ki-21 Sally bombing at 16000 feet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on Clark Field , at 43,51 Japanese aircraft Ki-43-Ic Oscar x 82 Ki-21 Sally x 160 Allied aircraft no flights No Japanese losses Allied aircraft losses P-35A: 4 destroyed P-40E Warhawk: 3 destroyed Allied ground losses: 424 casualties reported Guns lost 5 Vehicles lost 2 Airbase hits 15 Runway hits 51 Aircraft Attacking: 20 x Ki-21 Sally bombing at 16000 feet yesterday, the enemy flew in fighters to Clark field to fly Cap and our recons spotted some 40 fighters in the air. The base and airfield are heavily damaged though and while the undamaged fighters were flown out again, there were still a dozen left when my bombers showed up with a strong fighter escort to destroy a good number of aircraft on the ground. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on 48th Chinese Corps, at 44,40 Japanese aircraft Ki-27 Nate x 93 Ki-43-Ic Oscar x 12 No Japanese losses Allied ground losses: 41 casualties reported Aircraft Attacking: 10 x Ki-27 Nate bombing at 2000 feet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF, near Port Moresby at 53,91 Japanese aircraft A6M2 Zero x 54 G3M Nell x 20 Ki-21 Sally x 16 Ki-49 Helen x 47 Allied aircraft Hurricane IIb x 25 Japanese aircraft losses A6M2 Zero: 1 destroyed, 4 damaged G3M Nell: 2 destroyed, 11 damaged Ki-21 Sally: 3 damaged Ki-49 Helen: 1 destroyed, 6 damaged Allied aircraft losses Hurricane IIb: 21 destroyed Allied Ships DD Whipple CA Pensacola, Bomb hits 2, on fire, heavy damage AP Zealandia, Torpedo hits 1 AP Katoomba CA Houston CL Achilles, Bomb hits 1, on fire CL De Ruyter CL Tromp CA Canberra, Bomb hits 2, on fire CL Perth, Torpedo hits 1, on fire CL Leander DD Witte de With DD Van Nes Aircraft Attacking: 2 x Ki-49 Helen bombing at 6000 feet 4 x G3M Nell launching torpedoes at 200 feet The enemy troop transport TF made it unspotted all the way to PM! We have 200 aircraft at Lae, the bombers set to nav attack and not a bad number of bombers took off to attack the American/Australian/Dutch TF at Port Moresby. Unfortunately we have only one daitai of IJN torp bombers at Lae as we´ve needed the Army bombers to attack the airfield. Even though the IJA bombers are between 75 and 80 exp, the hit rate is rather poor. What is really amazing is the kill rate of my Zeroes. For the loss of 1 Zero, they took down 22!!!! Hurricanes, piloted by Australian pilots! The pm strike won´t face many fighters I guess... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF, near Port Moresby at 53,91 Japanese aircraft A6M2 Zero x 44 G3M Nell x 10 Ki-21 Sally x 24 Ki-49 Helen x 31 Allied aircraft Hurricane IIb x 4 Japanese aircraft losses A6M2 Zero: 1 damaged G3M Nell: 4 damaged Ki-21 Sally: 1 destroyed, 4 damaged Ki-49 Helen: 4 destroyed, 11 damaged Allied aircraft losses Hurricane IIb: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged Allied Ships AP Koolama, Bomb hits 1 CA Pensacola, on fire, heavy damage CL De Ruyter CA Canberra, Bomb hits 2, on fire, heavy damage AP Katoomba, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage CL Boise CA Houston CL Tromp Allied ground losses: 18 casualties reported Aircraft Attacking: 4 x Ki-49 Helen bombing at 6000 feet 3 x G3M Nell launching torpedoes at 200 feet This is the pm strike and again a good number of bombers attack but again the bombing runs are spread out over nearly all combat ships and so we don´t really do much damage. And still, at the end of the day, there are two burning and heavily damaged Allied CAs at Port Moresby. This is a reinforcement TF for PM and NOT an evac attempt! And that´s great, I love to see my enemy reinforcing PM!!! This will be the grave of a lot of ships, ac, troops as he will have to supply this base and as soon as I have recons and bombers at Gili Gili this will be a nightmare for my opponent. Hopefully weather allows us to fly strikes tomorrow, would love to really kill off one or two cruisers. What was really devastating was the flak fire the Allied cruisers were able to put up already. At the end of the day, we have lost 13 bombers to flak. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF, near French Frigate Shoal at 104,68 Japanese aircraft G3M Nell x 18 G4M1 Betty x 13 Japanese aircraft losses G3M Nell: 1 destroyed, 7 damaged G4M1 Betty: 1 destroyed, 3 damaged Allied Ships DD Helm AK K.I. We´ve ordered a deliberate attack and exactly this turn, the Chinese were able to move in more troops. Northern China will get interesting as the enemy is now (again) moving on Homan AND 4 units are also spotted to move on Chengting in the North. I guess I will have to send two or three divs from the South to reinforce my positions in the North if the Chinese really get serious mounting an offensive. With fort levels between 2 and 5 I hope to hold long enough until the reinforcement arrives. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Mersing Japanese Bombardment attack Attacking force 61184 troops, 710 guns, 19 vehicles, Assault Value = 1748 Defending force 8221 troops, 66 guns, 1 vehicles, Assault Value = 181 Allied ground losses: 104 casualties reported Guns lost 4 That´s what I call overkill. I´ve spotted 4 enemy troops at Mersing so I decided to bring in the hammer, just to find out that those 4 units only are some 8000 troops with 181 assault value. I expect the base to fall after the first attack. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Clark Field Japanese Bombardment attack Attacking force 82125 troops, 1139 guns, 30 vehicles, Assault Value = 2113 Defending force 47827 troops, 533 guns, 208 vehicles, Assault Value = 1155 Allied ground losses: 136 casualties reported Guns lost 1 Vehicles lost 1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Shortlands Japanese Deliberate attack Attacking force 500 troops, 1 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 13 Defending force 0 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 0 Japanese max assault: 11 - adjusted assault: 24 Allied max defense: 0 - adjusted defense: 1 Japanese assault odds: 24 to 1 (fort level 0) Japanese forces CAPTURE Shortlands base !!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Naga Allied Bombardment attack Attacking force 17620 troops, 232 guns, 6 vehicles, Assault Value = 485 Defending force 25614 troops, 228 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 642 Japanese ground losses: 35 casualties reported Guns lost 1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Changsha Allied Bombardment attack Attacking force 61898 troops, 421 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 2027 Defending force 234304 troops, 2640 guns, 26 vehicles, Assault Value = 4175 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Homan Allied Bombardment attack Attacking force 17130 troops, 137 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 1100 Defending force 92194 troops, 1046 guns, 14 vehicles, Assault Value = 1545 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Clark Field Allied Bombardment attack Attacking force 36575 troops, 509 guns, 2 vehicles, Assault Value = 1155 Defending force 124064 troops, 1319 guns, 30 vehicles, Assault Value = 2113
