So I get what I deserve. My MSW were spotted yesterday so Miller set some of his bombers to nav attack 6 hexes and he can do it without fearing anything. Didn´t move fighters to Derby (even though I have plenty of them in the area and have enough air support at Derby) and Darwin is 7 hexes from Wyndham (where I have the BB TF and 250 Tojos) so it was easy for Miller. What was surprising and shocking at the same time for me is the hit rate of the Mitchells. My 80+ exp Helens performed awfully in the nav attacks on Allied shipping a couple of weeks ago, so I didn´t reall fear the Allied level bombers. Proved to be wrong and pay for my obsolete execution of this "operation"... but I don´t really care about those MSWs, they a) respawn and b) they are useless for anything except mine sweeping anyways... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on Luganville , at 72,107 Allied aircraft Wellington III x 64 Hudson I x 12 PV-1 Ventura x 71 Allied aircraft losses Wellington III: 10 damaged Hudson I: 2 damaged PV-1 Ventura: 3 damaged Japanese ground losses: 250 casualties reported Guns lost 2 Port hits 2 Port fuel hits 2 Port supply hits 8 Aircraft Attacking: 4 x Wellington III bombing at 12000 feet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF, near Derby at 24,85 Allied aircraft B-25C Mitchell x 31 No Allied losses Japanese Ships MSW Wa 3, Bomb hits 2, on fire, heavy damage Aircraft Attacking: 3 x B-25C Mitchell bombing at 6000 feet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF, near Derby at 24,85 Allied aircraft B-25C Mitchell x 13 No Allied losses Japanese Ships MSW Toshi Maru #7, Bomb hits 1, on fire, heavy damage MSW Choun Maru #21, Bomb hits 3, on fire, heavy damage MSW Yoshino Maru, Bomb hits 4, on fire, heavy damage MSW Kyo Maru #5, Bomb hits 3, on fire, heavy damage Aircraft Attacking: 1 x B-25C Mitchell bombing at 6000 feet can´t believe that they are SOOO good... 11 hits out of 13 possible... god... and Miller wants to have long range torp bombers... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ASW attack near Broome at 21,85 Japanese Ships APD APD-46 APD APD-36 PC Iki PC Oki PC Etoforu PC Kunashiri Allied Ships SS Sculpin, hits 10, on fire, heavy damage we somewhat take revenge for the loss of 10 MSW today, SS Sculpin is attacked by one of my premium ASW TFs. A Type 95 and a Type 2 hit and 8 near misses leave the sub heavily damaged. Not that far to Wyndham (level 5 port) but it will take the sub a week to go there if it can only go 1 hex a phase. Perhaps it will sink the next days but my hopes aren´t high if a sub isn´t sunk immediately... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Chungking Japanese Bombardment attack Attacking force 15821 troops, 181 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 1862 Defending force 283424 troops, 1522 guns, 11 vehicles, Assault Value = 6706 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Kweiyang Japanese Bombardment attack Attacking force 22662 troops, 267 guns, 7 vehicles, Assault Value = 2490 Defending force 174377 troops, 3 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 5029 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Wyndham Japanese Bombardment attack Attacking force 8396 troops, 287 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 5026 Defending force 150962 troops, 1122 guns, 363 vehicles, Assault Value = 3116 Allied ground losses: 58 casualties reported Guns lost 1 what really surprises me is the fact that the Allied av at Wyndham isn´t going up as fast as I had expected it to. But the enemy will probably have supplies for 4 - 6 months. Would be interesting how much supply 150.000 Allied troops need per month. There are also probably 200 fighters on Cap. The enemy supply convoy surely brought 60.000 supplies, when looking at my deliberate attacks there surely still was supply at Wyndham so we´re talking about something like 70-85.000 supplies there. If 150.000 troops need 20.000 supplies a month then they will run out in 4 months. If they need less... in either case, there is no chance to take Wyndham at any time IMO...
