I will probably cancel my monthly fee on my website soon. The stuff thats already there will probably stay there. I wont delete it. But, there will be bandwidth restrictions so the site will only allow downloads for a period of time each day. If you're familiar with geocities, you know how it works.

I have all my stadiums and uniforms, so if the site ever disappears, you can always email me and I can send it to anyone who needs it. And I may have a single big file on megaupload or something.

This isnt based on me leaving the community, but I am going to be a lot less involved from now on. Without a price cut, it's doubtful the community will grow significantly. And it's already withered down to a few people on a consistent basis who post. Im just not motivated to build stadiums or make uniforms anymore. Im sure I will make a stadium or uni, here and there. And when I do, I will post info and location for download. But thats about it. I play MaxFB, and will probably play it for years to come, at least until a suitable replacement is found. But I have other interests and will be devoting some time to those. In particular, actually learning to 3D model things other than stadiums, and playing other games I enjoy.

Anyway, I would suggest that anyone who wants them, go download whatever you want from my site. I will probably cancel the fee tonite sometime, so the bandwidth restrictions will kick in shortly after.

Sad news
but as you already know Gary (seen as we talk often),
I too have reached the same conclusion

So I'm going to have to do something similar
I just cant justify the time spent modding, nor the lay out in British pounds for my website
activity on the forum is all but dead apart from the same few die hard guys
activity on my personal website has followed suit and took a sharpe drop in activity

But here's the twist

I arnt cancelling my website
but I will be deleting all the Maximum Football Downloads from it
and switching its focus onto other things (I'm active in many modding communities)
so before I do that (dont want anyone missing out)
I'll put that Idea on hold until December 1st
to give everyone a chance to get anything they may want

Simmer dont panic,
I already considered what that means for your little corner of my site
that offer stands, I aint the kinda guy who about faces on a deal made
I will have to do a little re-organizing
but I'll make sure your stuff is still available and with as little interuption as possible.

Later Guy's................ its been fun

Sorry to hear about any erosion in the community.  I'm actually having more fun then I have ever had with my football leagues and a big part of that is due to the work both of you have put in.

Thank you for all of your service and if there is anything I can do to help out let me know.

This is one of the reasons that having a small charge for an unofficial expansion pack was being considered.

I wonder how long FBMax will last.

I think you may have missed the point a little Marauders

my decission has absolutely nothing to do with money
I wont be closing it, just changing its focus........ so I'll still be paying
infact my website is reasonabley priced for the package I get
I may even have a re-think and leave all the max-football stuff in place
but add other sections for other games I mod
as I'm not limited on space available its an option.

My decission is based purely on activety and my own convienience (spelling haha)
at the moment I dont have anywhere for other stuff I do
and maxfb mods are the only things available on my site
which doesnt make any sense at all
it being the least popular of the games I mod (volume wise).

No, and cant say if it will happen. Any future stadiums I build will incorporate some of that, but I doubt i will edit any of my current ones.

Thats ShaggyRA, I think...so not sure what sort of setup he has.

The only money related move that should even be considered at this point is a price cut on the game. Half it's current price would be an incentive for many to try it. I would feel more comfortable recommending it.

Guys like to thank you guys for all the art work which has been used in both the VCFL and RCSL. Wether intentional or not these download sites being dismantled does send a message out there that the game is winding down.

Agreed, I just got NBA 2k9 for the pc for 20$. It has next gen graphics, incredible realism and a great coach mode. Max football has its advantages in terms of flexibility but I cant recommend the game to others at the current price tag.

I bought Madden08(PC) from Gamestop for $10.....that was not long after it was released. It was in the used bin, but heck, the on shelf version wasnt much more. As much as I love MaxFB, if madden would give us some of the custom league features from 2002, I would jump on the bandwagon and stay.

Gary,
Thanks for all your work. I use the stadiums you've posted. I'll continue to play with MaxFb until something better comes out.

certainly not my intention Trevor but I can see your point
in all honesty though whats the point when hardly anyone visits user sites anymore
I still play MFB and I'm in a couple of leagues online
but churning out more and more stuff for less and less people is just senseless

I know what you mean Brodie. I'm guilty of lurking and just staying in touch with little input. I stopped playing a while back and was waiting to see what improvements would be made. Now with everybody leaving, I at least want to get some files to play with. Like Old Coach said: this game is not truly playable out of the box and I agree. I haven't put the time in it but I am envious of Old Coach. He's playing a totally customized college league that was developed and tuned by him. In essence, a creator's work of art.

At the moment there is a 30% price cut because of the "Holiday Sales". The game costs now only 27.00 $.
