Has anyone read Barrier and the "Javelin: Japanese and Allied Strategies, February to June 1942" by H.P. Willmot? Considering buying it but there are not many reviews yet posted about it. I like some of the authors other work but he can be hit and miss IMO.

I've bought it , but am reading it's precursor...Empires in the Balance. If the book is half as good as the first one, then I'd say it's well worth reading. I've read a few of Willmott's other books , and I find him very clear and readable.

A "Must Have".  Well researched, well written. Also, an excellent early war strategy primer for the WITP fan.

Yes, it's definitely a must for anyone interested in WWII Pacific War  history.  It's a well researched book and easy to read, with maps and photos as well.

What he said!

Bought both Empires in the Balance and Barrier and the Javelin when they first came out. Both are in my list of top 10 War in the Pacific type books!

Have a lot of H.P. Willmotts books, (The Second WW in the Far East etc.) and have found his representation and research are excellent.
