24 August 42 - dull days of summer

Aleutians: I have the 56th Division one day from unloading at Umnak with the 6th Aviation Rgt 3 days behind them. 5 days out are the transports with 23rd Engineer, 3 x AA, and 2 x construction. I have 3 x construction four days from Adak. The American CVs and much of the American fleet seems to be at Kodiak. Recon shows 80 Wildcats and 30 Warhawks on CAP there. I've been allowed to reinforce and build up while KB and much of the fleet has been in the Home Islands and Shanghai getting upgrades and system damage removed.

India: Brad has pulled back most of the troops from Bombay to Poona for R&R and to get our disabled squads repaired. This last turn there was warships spotted outside the Aden channel and the Betty/Nells have been warmed up. We haven't given up on Bombay, but are recovering from the campaigns to date.

Overall: I'm moving fuel forward (Kwajalien and Truk) and getting the seriously damaged ships back to Japan. I've taken a more active role in the economy than John - moving supplies to get repairs (oil and HI) done and small expansion of HI as we had less than 10k reserve at one point. Brad has done an excellent job in supply building (2,635,000). I started to move LCUs around to prepare a better defense in the eastern Pacific. Brad is upgrading the Oscar/Nate with the massive influx of Tony and Tojo. The turns have been relatively quite so I haven't posted on a regular basis.

We would update more, but the last month or so has been "Bore in the Pacific"; we are bombing/digging/building everywhere, KB is repairing in Japan, we are stuck at the gates of Bombay it seems, and we don't have a major offensive operation in the works at this point, other than clearing Bombay, clearing Luzon, and planning counter-evil in the Aleutians.

This game is also moving at a snail's pace. It seems one of our Allied opponents has had a number of RL issues that has distracted from WITP, so at the moment we are doing about 3-4 turns a WEEK; that is SLOOOOOOOW. For awhile we were doing 2-3 per day.

I am flatterred someone asked, so thanks for checking in!

seems like the allies still don't realize that there is almost nothing more to conquer and that it therefore is their turn to start an offensive

How big a chance do you guys give KB to intervene in the Allied push in the Aleutians?
since they gave you a large amount of time to prepare the defences i'd say KB is almost rested?

Also, what is the point spread and how does your chances for an auto-victory look?  Do you think your opponent's "real life" matters are more a morale problem given their position in the game?

Almost there. This game is crawling at a snail's pace at the moment, due to personal life concerns of one of the Allied players. It's gotten so slow that this game is at risk of being killed by lack of interest.

Not on my part though. Michael is repairing KB, and it's just about ready. I suggested raiding Kodiak, he wants to build Cold Bay first to get some CAP support, which makes sense. I will probably advocate though soon to sortie KB, on the presumption that the ships at Kodiak are going to do something soon, which isn't the case yet. They have to move at some point, right? If they attempt a relief of Kodiak, and we have KB lurking in the background, that could present an opportunity to wipe their CV's out of the war.

A great question is what they are waiting for at Kodiak. I can only guess a ground reinforcement or something like that.

We are at 4.5 to 1 at this point, I don't see us getting auto-victory unless one of the following happens:
1. Fall of Bombay
2. Fall of Manila
3. Destruction of USN CVs

Bombay is VERY tough, and to take Manila we would need to start committing troops pretty soon. We only have a few Nav Gd units in the PI watching the Allies go hungry, I suppose at some point we have to clean them out.

I wonder if the real life is more a morale problem myself. I think their morale is low, but it should be higher.

We have done exactly ONE turn since Sunday; and at the moment, my partner has had a turn in his in-box for over a day, and has been uncharacteristically silent. He is usually right on top of it.

Not sure what is going on, I may send a note out to the gang to guage interest, or maybe make it a 1x1 to keep it moving.

Maybe it's AE fatigue? I for one though will probably keep my WITP games going, at least until the first patch or two for AE.

Good Morning FORUM!  After 42 days of 'other activities' I received Work Release from a marvelous Judge here in Greeley.  I cannot begin to describe how much I've missed chatting, posting, and playing!  Serious WitP Jonesing!!!

It will take a few days for me to get things figured out but I wanted to post onto the Forum so people knew that things worked out as best as we could hope for.  Will provide more details and information once I get a chance to get better organized, have som e family time, and get a job.

Thanks for all the support and look forward to chatting soon!

John

I spoke with John around 11am and have sent him my back up game file along with some notes on what I have been doing. He is unsure if he will be able to resume command. We will talk again this weekend and anything I can pass on, I will.

Thanks guys.  Always appreciate the support.

Need about 10-14 days to get everything settled.  If I can hop back in at that point I will.

With the Fleet repaired all I have to say is:

Let's GO to Kodiak!!!

My .02....

Bah!  John is a wimp and cannot handle REAL Allied knowhow and determination.  Poor guy is doomed to a life of mishap in his role as the Japanese Emperor.

P.S.  John, how about you and I squaring off in a game of AE?  Assuming, that is, that I don't decide to make my "vow of celibacy" permanent.
