I've been playing SUDG pretty exclusively, and I keep noticing that everytime I get Jump Engines, they don't automatically swap out like the other engine upgrades did. Is this supposed to happen?

Oh, while I'm thinking of it, is there any kind of tech tree available? I'm always getting confused on how to get to certain tech down the road and usually research the wrong stuff.

The jump drive is used to move instantly for large distances, but since it's not the fastest drive to move around (explore, patrol, combat) , it can be used in conjunction with the next best drive.

There is a tech tree in the game. Try from the research screen.
