I have seen a few requests for screenshots of various parts of the AE map in the AAR threads and elsewhere. To help out with the workload of the guys doing the AARs, I will provide screenshots if anyone wants to see a particular part of the AE map in this thread. Please let me know what you want to see.

Andrew

My first two choices would be Java and the Solomons. Those have yet to show up in any AARs.

BTW: Thanks, Andrew... you've done so much to improve this game I'll never be able to thank you enough!

There is no way to put all of India in one in-game screenshot. Aden is represented as an "off map" area as shown in this screenshot. What part of India did you want to see?

Some of the frontier is shown in a previous screenshot, but here is some more. Does that cover it?

I have to do some serious compression to get these files below the upload size limit (200kb), especially when there is a lot of land, like in this image.

It appears from your screen shot that Batavia and Soerabaja are urban hexes.

Can I see a screenshot of northern Australia from Broome to Darwin with Timor if it fits?? The trails/roads were different from stock to Andrew's and I want to see what they are plus added bases.

Yes they are. There are two types of urban hex in AE - light urban and heavy urban, which provide defence multipliers of x2 and x4 respectively. Heavy urban is equivalent to the current urban hex in stock.

Whether a hex is light or heavy urban depends on its population level. Batavia and Soerabaja are light urban hexes.

Here is a map of that area. There are some more bases in Northern Australia compared to stock.

Australia will be malaria free, just as it is in my original map variant. Apart from that the malarial areas are about the same.

What type of terrain is that around Wyndham??

It might be a good idea to post a screenshot of the terrain keys for further reference.

Are some base names omitted in realtion to the other versions of your map or will they be in the final product?

The 'dots' for dot bases are extremely hard to make out (especially in the PNG/Solomon's shot you posted earlier).

Is this due to the conpression of these screenies? I assume it's better in the game?

They're the same as in stock WITP, please don't just the exact quality of the graphics based on these compressed screenshots.

I'd be curious to see the expanse of water between, say, Wake and Midway, or Tarawa and Baker Island. Does it even fit on one screen now?

Also, is there any chance you could show us a small section of varied terrain -- perhaps of the Canberra area or Seattle -- without compression? E.g., just show us a few hexes at full resolution. I'm especially interested in seeing the gorgeous new mountains and farmland and urban hexes with an uncompressed view, even if it were just 3x3 hexes. For that matter, those interested in "dots" might be interested in seeing, say, Lunga at full resolution.

Problem with that is the forum doesn't support bmp uploads (the format of the map files), and converting them to jpg destroys a lot of quality, especially if zoomed in.

But they are still pretty good screen shots of a non-existant game.

Just upload the bitmap to an external picture host site like photobucket.com and then just post the link....

Fantastic map!

I noticed both railroad and regular roads in same hex.  Is this for tactical and strategic modes of travel?  or Is it possible to damage the road/railroad networks?

Also any chance of seeing a screen shot of the Philippines?

Thanks
