Hi Jason, Can you give us any idea of the planned content list for 1.05, even if it is incomplete, and maybe an expected release date? One thing I am really looking forward to is randomly created battles post 1945.

& Jason, I was under the impression that the patch v1.05 wouldn't happen for some time.
Due to works in progress.... Is there a misunderstanding on my part? I'm not sure.
Hence, why I am asking. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see a patch that will make this
game even better in balance and gameplay too.

What it comes down to... time? Will we see this v1.05 arrive during Summer? Thanks
for your time.

Plans for 1.05.

1. Correct outstanding errors, glitches.

2. Update countries (Japanese, Hungarians, Romanians, Italians, French, British, possibly others if time is available)

3. Additional scenarios.

4. Additional DCG's.

5. Update unit graphics.

6. Improve documentation.

7. Additional enhancements (no details yet).

1.05 is not due to be released until sometime in 2010 as we are focused on the Modern Wars: Volume I

Is extreme assault set in stone?  Or are further tweaks contemplated?

I guess my question is whether extreme assault is finished to your satisfaction.

So far they seem to be OK, but we'll decide in 2010.

Thanks.

If you asked a hundred players where extreme assault should be, you'd probably get 100 different answers.  No matter what Matrix does, it'll tick off somebody.

Matrix is the owner of the game, so Matrix's vision governs.  I was just wondering where Matrix's vision was.

It's all about focus and priorities. As the usual, I'll be happy knowing that JPetho is on the work.
He's got talent and is extremely responsive to the forum! Very instrumental in letting everyone
know the status quo and replying to our questions in a timely manner. Seriously. We can't ask
for more than that. (Hey, JP .. my check is in the Mail, right ? heh).

If 2010 is the set time-frame, I am happy with that. In the meantime, I have placed the game
on the shelf. I'll be honest. Knowing there will be fixes and added content coming (irregardless
of what date is set), I won't be playing an unfinished game. That's just me. In the meantime,
I do have a wide-variety of other games that I am playing.

I've not dropped off the scene. Again, that's my story and it's worked so far. :)

Of course, there is one minor flaw with that. As long as I am capable, there will always be UPDATES to the game.

Will you hold off until 1.12 before you play?

Jason, are you doing all of this work by your self?

What it sounds like to me is that Jason is doing everything....if this is the case, poor Jason.

No, I am not.

There are two members of the Campaign Series Legion: Wyatt and myself. Wyatt does the programming.

There are a handful of other gentlemen as part of the BETA Brigade who dedicate their time to scenario design, scenario playtesting, artwork, utility creation, etc.

I don't know how much time the others dedicate to the Campaign Series, but I know I spend, on average, 35 hours a week working on order of battles, research, maps, unit artwork, scenario playtesting, scenario design, providing support here and other websites, etc, etc.

That doesn't include time I spend actually playing the game for fun.

For the love of the game.

Thanks, Jason.  It's a great game.  It's also a great gaming community.

Where is Modern Wars II in this mix?  My understanding is Modern Wars I is coming out in late March or April 2009, then Modern Wars II was next in line, after which, patch 1.05 for Campaign Series.

Modern Wars VII is in playtesting as well, the Korea portion anyway.

I am in the middle of building the OOBs for the NATO vs Warsaw Pact game.

If all goes well, it should be a late 2010 or early 2011 release.

I think the word we're looking for is "prodigious."

I can't seem to post any more without hearing a smacking sound.

So patch 1.05 is coming out after Modern Wars II?  Not that there's any hurry.

Any teasers on NATO/Warsaw Pact?  How are you handling the extensive time frame?  Divided Ground effectively focused on 1948, 1956, 1967, and 1973, because that's when the actual fighting occurred.  Without actual fighting in the NATO/Warsaw Pact context, it'd be hard to focus, and the time frame is tremendous, relatively to the context of gaming parameters.  Also which countries will be represented?  This list was fairly long for the two sides.

1.05 should come out inbetween the MW releases, in theory.

As with Modern Wars: Volume I it will cover 1948 - 1985.

While those are the large engagements, we are also offering some additional engagements that are not part of the standard Middle East wars. For example, I have a War of Attrition scenario in the making in addition to an Algerian War scenario or two that will be available as part of the Middle East release. There is also the Israeli-Lebanon War of 1982 also being portrayed.

Of course, additional scenarios covering different engagements will be available with future UPDATES, as per the norm.

Unfortunately, existing DG scenarios will NOT be compatible with the Middle East game.

Once the OOB's are complete, a number of different "story lines" will be generated based on historical events that could have turned the Cold War hot. Scenarios will be based on those story lines.

Completing the OOB's are of the utmost importance.

Also which countries will be represented?  This list was fairly long for the two sides.

To start: countries being included are:
01 - Warsaw Pact Misc Nation
02 - Russia
03 - Red China
05 - Cuba
08 - France
09 - Britian
15 - Turkey
16 - Argentina
18 - West Germany
20 - ANZAC
32 - Misc NATO nation
36 - Canada
37 - East Germany
38 - Yugoslavia
39 - Poland
40 - Sweden
41 - Netherlands
42 - Belgium
43 - Greece

This will increase with future UPDATES.

Have to admit, that is the same way I went.

Jason, thanks for the teaser.  I wouldn't expect the list to be complete.  It was, after all, just a teaser.  I suspected at some point you might try to sneak in the U.S. under the radar when no one was looking.  Czechoslovakia and Hungary might not have been so easy to do unnoticed -- not with Dumnorix watching.

Although this is a Patch 1.05 thread, I've another question regarding Modern Wars II - NATO/Warsaw Pact:  I always thought a NATO/Warsaw Pact conflict would be fought in Germany, so I would expect hypotheticals to take place there.  What other possible hypotheticals are being considered?

I'm thinking possible a conflict in Turkey.  Didn't Russia covet Constantinople/Istanbul for centuries?  I don't know my history that well, but at some point I believe nukes were placed in Turkey.  That could have precipitated a war, in the same way the Soviet Union's attempt to put nukes in Cuba nearly precipitated a war.

Other possibilities might be Hungary in 1956 and Czechoslovakia in 1968.  I don't think NATO had a border contiguous with Hungary, so that might not be a good example.  I'm not sure of dates, but I believe both countries made attempts to break with the Soviet Union.  Austria was neutral, but it didn't have to be.  If it had gone over to one side or the other, that might have precipitated a war.
